What I Wore {First Post-Baby Edition}

by Kate on May 23rd, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Life, What I Wore

As I prepared this post I realized the last time I shared What I Wore I was 34 Weeks pregnant. The last month of my pregnancy I apparently wore nothing of note, unless you consider yoga pants and maternity t’s high style. And, just when I thought dressing couldn’t get more difficult, I actually delivered my baby and realized I had to dress my postpartum self. This presents many challenges: I don’t fit into my pre-baby clothes so I have a limited selection, I’m sick of maternity pants and breastfeeding-friendly tops can be less than cute.

The result? This is the first outfit that is post-worthy.

I am obsessed with The Shops at Target. This dress is from The Webster collection and I am tempted by just about everything available online. (There’s a lot more online than there was at our local store.) I wore the dress with Espadrilles from Target I bought last year so the outfit cost a grand total of $60.

Dress: The Webster at Target Sleeveless Jersey Dress
Shoes: Calypso St. Bart for Target Espadrille Wedge Sandal

Almost forgot to mention my white tank top peeking out. I wear a tank constantly while nursing. Constantly. And luckily the tank matches my pasty white legs. Score.

Because I was dressed in something that I didn’t mind having photographed, I made the kids gather for a picture.

The boys are wearing one set of their matching clothes from Tea Collection. ::swoon::

What I Wore {34 Weeks}

by Kate on February 1st, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Life, What I Wore

I only have one outfit to share from the last week. Luckily, it’s a fun one! I wore this get up over the weekend when my husband and I joined a bunch of friends to celebrate some birthdays. Good thing I felt fun and festive because I was what I will call the “super designated driver”. Who knew a Suburban full of 30-somethings could be so… entertaining?

Shirt & Jacket: Banana Republic
Denim: Citizens of Humanity
Boots: Via Spiga
Earrings: old, old, old school Express

What I Wore {33 Weeks}

by Kate on January 25th, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Life, What I Wore

To those of you who kindly suggested in last week’s What I Wore post that my bump looked small, I proudly present to you Exhibits A, B and C which demonstrate my 8 months pregnant belly is in full effect.

Shirt: Dolman Tunic, Japanese Weekend from Fashion Forward Maternity
Jeans: Union Laurel Canyon, Paige Premium Denim from Fashion Forward Maternity
Bracelet: lia sophia

***

This weekend we took full advantage of the Banana Republic military discount and I got a few things that I wore almost immediately.

Top: Ruched Tank, Target
Sweater: Shaker Stitch Sweater Jacket, Banana Republic

***

I actually enjoyed this outfit all day – until I saw this photo. I tried the belt trick again – like at 29 Weeks – to define the bump rather than just wearing the Chambray shirt unbuttoned. The effect is totally lost from this angle. At least I’m hoping it looked better from the front.

Tee: 3/4 Ruched Tee, Motherhood Maternity
Shirt: Chambray Pintuck Shirt, Banana Republic
Jeans: Lilac Maternity
Belt: Banana Republic
Boots: Ellen Tracy

What I Wore {31 Weeks}

by Kate on January 11th, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Life, What I Wore

A sweet (and very talented) friend of mine took maternity and family photos this weekend and while my outfits were not the most exciting or original, the photos are great so I’m excited to share them.

I went with a colorful brown theme for our family outfits. I wanted us to look good together, but clearly we couldn’t do matchy-matchy. If I’m honest, I came up with something I thought would be basic and flattering on me and then figured out everyone else’s clothes based on that. So brown. Our outfit theme was brown. Doesn’t that sound lovely? HA!

Shirt & Necklace: Banana Republic
Denim: Citizens of Humanity Maternity
Shoes: GAP Flats – so old but so wonderful
Bracelet: lia sophia

And, in case you’re curious: my husband is wearing a GAP polo and jeans, daughter’s dress is Lottie Da and shoes are Eleven, and my son is wearing Gymboree top, GAPKids jeans and Crocs boots.

I had some photos taken alone, too. I never had real maternity pictures taken with either of my other pregnancies so it feels like a real treat to have these.

Shirt: Banana Republic
Denim: Slim Fit Motherhood Maternity
Boots: UGG Classic Cardy

And, then it’s back to reality with our poorly lit late night pictures! Holy shadow.

Shirt: 3/4 Scoop Neck Side Ruched T Motherhood Maternity
Denim: Dressy Bootcut Lilac Clothing
Boots: Via Spiga
Scarf: Affordable Scarves

What I Wore {30 Weeks}

by Kate on January 4th, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Fashion & Beauty, Life, What I Wore

I really like the challenge of coming up with outfits – ensembles, if you will – that are cool enough to actually photograph and share every week. And, it is a challenge. If I’m being honest, getting on any clothes at all is starting to feel like a challenge as my belly continues to grow. But, this week was particularly difficult because the entire family came down with the flu. One by one, even our house guests dropped like flies. Except me! Seriously, how amazeballs is that? I think it’s karma making up for the fact that I felt like vomiting for a solid 20 weeks – figured there was no reason to put me through that again. My role in the disaster was care for my sick peoples and do lots of laundry.

Anyway, enough of the excuses. Here are a few outfits from this week.

***

And, this outfit, my friends, is why I should photograph myself every morning before leaving the house. It’s freezing here and I wanted to keep warm, but I don’t like the way it looks all together at all. Oh well. Part of the reason I’m sharing is because I wore the same sweater at 22 weeks so it’s fun to compare the two.

30 Weeks:

22 Weeks:

Sweater: Old Navy
Shirt: LOFT
Jeans: Slim Fit Motherhood Maternity
Boots: UGG Classic Cardy

I am IN LOVE with this sweater from Seraphine. It’s the same company that sent me the beautiful navy dress I wore to my husband’s holiday party. I’m telling you, check out this company for fabulous maternity and nursing clothing. I’m totally smitten and would get one of everything if I could.

It’s a very easy to wear maternity shirt, but it’s also made for nursing mamas. The button accents on either side of the top of the shirt unsnap, allowing baby easy access to the goods. As my husband said, “It’s functional fashion.” Who knew he was such an expert? I foresee a lot of this lightweight sweater in my future!

Top: Seraphine Breastfeeding Sweater
Jeans: Motherhood Maternity Slim Fit (again)
Boots: UGG Classic Cardy (again)
Bracelet: lia sophia

And now… because covering it with real clothes does not do the belly justice: I present 30 weeks belly photos.

To see how the belly grows, check out 28 weeks belly photos, 24 weeks belly photos, 20 weeks belly photos16 weeks belly photos and a 12 weeks belly photo.

What I Wore {29 Weeks}

by Kate on December 28th, 2011  |  5 Comments  |  Fashion & Beauty, Life, What I Wore

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday. We were out of town and traveling and Christmasing so my clothes were a contrast between total comfort and trying to look nice to celebrate the holiday. Here are some favorite looks from the past week.

I ordered this shirt in the Tulle crazy Cyber Monday sale and I wasn’t sure how it would work. Without the belt it looked like a giant muumuu (which I totally support for pregnant women), but was rather unfortunate. I thew on a belt above the bump so I at least looked pregnant. The shirt, however, still looks like my grandmother’s tablecloth. You can’t see the bottom of the outfit, but it’s skinny jeans with brown suede boots.

Top: Tulle
Belt: Banana Republic
Jeans: Slim Fit Motherhood Maternity
Boots: Ellen Tracy

Despite the fact that I can’t seem to wear them without looking totally awkward, I keep trying with the leggings. I actually enjoyed this attempt at leggings but that is due to my new shoes! UGG Cardy Boots from my husband for Christmas. <3.

Shirt & Leggings: Max Studio
Scarf: Years and years old from a market in Germany
Boots: UGG Classic Cardy Boots

What I Wore {28 Weeks}

by Kate on December 21st, 2011  |  5 Comments  |  Fashion & Beauty, Life, What I Wore

We are already in holiday vacation mode, which means I wore “travel clothes” all weekend and only have one decent outfit photographed to share this week. But, it’s a good one, if I do say so myself – very basic and very me.

Shirt: Tea Collection Modernista Tee – no longer available, kind of like this one
Jeans: Motherhood – that crazy below the waist kind with no blue belly band
Necklace:  Jillian Aubrey Designs

***

The 28 week milestone means it’s also time for my monthly belly photo with Sticky Bellies. So, here you go… 28 week belly!

And then my daughter got in on the fun. She claims to be pregnant with a baby girl named Rosie, so it’s only fitting she show her belly, too.
