Nostalgic Graphic Tees by Elizabeth Horton Design {Review & Giveaway}

by Monica on April 23rd, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Clothes, Giveaways, Reviews

I love checking out Etsy for handmade and unique items for my kids, as well as for others.  When I was approached to review Nostalgic Graphic Tees by Elizabeth Horton Design, I knew right away which cute tee I wanted to review! Although she has many cute and adorable designs, there was one in particular that would fit my daughter (and hopefully one day my daughters) personality well: the Tennis Pro girls tee.

About Elizabeth Horton Design

Seeing my children grow and develop their imaginations made me feel nostalgic of some of my own childhood memories. I remembered the joy in picking a flower, playing on a see saw, twirling in a tutu, catching that first firefly of the summer, looking at clouds against a blue sky, blowing bubbles, fishing in grandaddy’s pond, riding a bike. I loved reliving those simple moments with my own family and wanted to capture them in some fashion.

My goal is to design products that are comfortable, unique, timeless, and age appropriate. This is the shirt that I hope you and your children will reach for time and time again!

My Experience

When I browsed around the Nostalgic Tee shop I was immediately impressed.  First of all, there is nothing more classic than a child’s silhouette, and on a tee it can be so cute! Elizabeth has captured many important and timelss momens in a child’s life in her designs, there has to be one that speaks to you. The one that I immediately fell in love with was a little girl silhouette with a tennis racket. Tennis has been a huge part of my life, both as a child and now as an adult.  I hope that it is a sport that I will be able to share more and more with my children. I just knew my little girl had to have this Tennis Pro tee to cheer me on in my matches this spring and summer! I play in a league all year long, and she will be the hit of the stands cheering Mommy on in this adorable tee.

You can see a close up of the adorable graphic to the right.  My little girl loved it as soon as she saw it for two reasons, 1) it was pink, and 2) it was tennis, like Mommy plays. I loved the quality of the lettuce edge tee, as will as the expert way the graphic was printed to the tee perfectly.

We had an absolute ball doing this little photo op. The amazingly adorable Nike dri-fit shorts seriously complete the outfit, don’t they! They were the perfect color pink to match!

The Best Shirt for a New Dad

by Kate on April 2nd, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Shopping

The first time I spotted this new dad and baby shirt set I knew I wanted to get it for my husband. The first time my husband saw it he said, “Will you get that for me as my ‘push present’?” What he pushed? I’m not sure. But it is seriously the most clever and fabulous shirt set ever.

The set is from the The Pecking Order on Etsy, the same store where I purchased the kids’ shirts we used to announce my pregnancy last summer.

Shop! The New Daddy Gift Set is $37.50 for an adult tee and baby shirt or onesie.

Etsy Easter Basket Finds

It’s time to find an Easter Basket for little man and baby, so of course I headed over to Etsy. Here are some gorgeous options. Now to pick one…

This felted wool Easter basket from Mmim for $34 is a unique take on the classic and I could easily find a ton of uses once Easter is past. I just wish the bunny came with it. Available in other colors.

Love this girly pink flower basket from MsSewItAll32 for $20

Finally! A boy basket that isn’t all gingham and frills. How fun is this bright bug covered canvas Easter basket for $30 from aLittleFrayed?

Another cute boy option (I think it could work for a less girly girl too) is this orange and blue bunny basket from LIVbyLouise for $40. Also love her little bird baskets for $45 for the set below.

And finally this is what little man would choose if I let him: Buzz Lightyear basket for $22 from HappyCatBoutique.

Where did you find your Easter baskets?

Meeting Baby Brother in Funky Monkey Threads Sibling Shirts {Review & Discount Code}

by Kate on March 13th, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  Clothes, Reviews

Just a few hours after Max was born, my mom helped my kids put on their Funky Monkey Threads sibling shirts and they headed to the hospital to meet their new brother.

funky monkey threads shirts

They liked their shirts so much, they wore them to school the next day. I can’t say I blame them. They wanted to brag about their new brother and these shirts are the perfect way to do it.

The shirts arrived quickly after we ordered them and were great quality. Not surprisingly, since we’re dealing with two preschoolers, the shirts have already been washed a couple times and still look great. The colors have held their hue and have not faded at all.

When I was shopping around for shirts for the kids, the Funky Monkey Threads designs stuck out to me because of the modern look that clearly announces “Big Bro” and “Big Sis” while still allowing for the personalization of the kids’ names. There are lots of options out there, but the retro mod circles design was just what I was looking for. I couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out!

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… The Funky Monkey Threads sibling shirts were the perfect way for my kids to welcome their baby brother. The personalization, quality and design are well worth the very reasonable price. I definitely recommend Funky Monkey Threads and I’ll definitely shop the shirts again.

Or Not to Buy… The shirts are screen printed so it’s a matter of preference versus personalized embroidered shirts.

Shop! Funky Monkey Threads on Etsy has a huge selection of personalized tees, including the fabulous sibling sets. The retro mod circles design shirts we have are $15.99 each. Make sure you check out the adorable collection of personalized Easter shirts (pictured below)! We are excited to share a discount codeEnter “The Shopping Mama” at checkout on Etsy to save 15% off your order. Code expires March 31.

Thanks to Funky Monkey Threads for providing samples.

Bumper Free Crib Bedding

by Kate on February 29th, 2012  |  5 Comments  |  28 Days of Design, Children's Decor

Design: Bumper Free Crib Bedding from Lottie Da Baby

Why We Like It: We’ve been fans of Lottie Da’s gorgeous crib bedding for some time. Last year I even visited Lottie Da store in Columbus, Ohio to take a look at the bedding and other fabulous things in the shop in person. Everything Lottie Da has a quality boutique feel – mixing modern fabrics and innovative design for a decidedly chic result. We love that Lottie Da now offers bumper free crib sets (in line with the AAP recommendation against using bumpers) featuring the same boutique custom look we’ve come to expect.

I happen to love Lottie Da’s designs so much that after baby is born and grows into the Stokke Sleepi Crib I’m working with Amy of Lottie Da to order some custom bumper free bedding. I can’t wait!

Of course, I’d be remiss not to mention the gorgeous bedding sets that do have crib bumpers.

Shop! Lottie Da Baby crib bedding is available on Etsy. The 3 piece bumper free boys organic Beach Cruisers set is $375.
