Crawlings Baby & Toddler Knee Pads {Review}

Crawlings Baby Kneepads

As mamas we’ve all learned the hard way that baby’s are pretty resilient. Nonetheless, we do every little thing we can to keep our babies comfortable and that’s what Crawlings are all about. The baby and toddler knee pads are a cute and effective way to protect a crawling or tumble-prone little one.

The knee pads are made of a soft and stretchy cotton/rayon/spandex blend fabric. There’s an elasticized band at the top and the bottom to help keep the knee pads in place. The pad is made of EVA cushion that’s pliable and won’t dig or scratch baby’s leg.

The back of the knee pads are vented for comfort.

Max is walking like a pro these days, so at this stage Crawlings are a colorful accessory. I would have loved to have the kneepads when Max was crawling! We have hard tile floor and, despite his perfectly designed baby knees, that just can’t feel good. The kneepads don’t hinder Max’s movement or activity at all, anything but some extra comfort. As summer approaches, the knee pads are perfect for little ones exploring the outdoors for the first time.

We think a pair of Crawlings is a super fun and original baby shower or new baby gift. Right now we’re loving the limited edition (and gender neutral) Left & Right Knee Pads, the Pink Striped Bandage Knee Pads and Baseball Knee Pads.

Preparing for Baby’s Arrival {Join the Conversation & Win!}

by Kate on April 18th, 2013  |  5 Comments  |  Baby, Giveaways, Reviews

As any new mom will tell you, no matter how much you prepare… you’re never really prepared for the arrival of a new baby. You can read books, prepare a nursery, stock up on diapers and bottles, but a baby changes our lives in ways we never really imagine. Luckily, most of those changes are for the (much) better and there are things we can do to mitigate the upheaval of our lives brought on by a sweet 7 pound package.

Preparing for Baby

Preparing for Baby

1. Educate Yourself. Particularly important if you are expecting your first baby, read up on the practicalities of parenting a newborn. As the saying goes, “knowledge is power” and, yes, that applies to knowing how many dirty diapers to expect from a 2 week old baby. If you plan to breastfeed, read some basics about latching on and what to expect from nursing to build your confidence. There are TONS of amazing resources both online and in good old-fashioned books. You won’t regret taking the time to educate yourself.

2. Purchase Essentials. As you know there are thousands of baby products out there, and there are a few that you simply must have on hand when you bring baby home from the hospital (or even in the hospital!). In addition to the five baby registry must haves, get diapers – even if you plan to cloth diaper, many find it easier to use disposable for the first few weeks – and other baby registry essentials. You’ll also want some products on hand that help you to soothe baby like pacifiers and swaddle blankets.

3. Stock Your Freezer. So even though new babies sleep a lot, they still throw your daily routine upside down making tasks like cooking dinner seem overwhelming. Put your nesting instincts to work and prepare some freezable meals ahead of baby’s arrival so you have some easy go-to meals with little preparation. There are lots of great ideas on Pinterest for freezer-friendly and crock pot recipes. If all else fails, stock up on your favorite take away and delivery menus!

4. Line Up Help. Listen, we know it’s hard to ask for help. Really hard. But, if possible, it’s amazingly beneficial to have a support system lined up to help when baby arrives. Whether it’s an online community to vent to and chat with, friends bringing meals or family to help care for your child(ren), help comes in many forms and is vital for a new mom.

Join the Conversation & Win!

We want to know: What did you do to prepare for baby’s arrival? What baby products do you need on hand when baby comes home? Anything you do to prepare around the house?

Twenty (yes, 20!) of you who comment will receive a NUK Advanced AirShieldTM Orthodontic Pacifier.

We are proud to partner with NUK, the number 1 selling pacifier brand in North America, to spread the word about the new Advanced AirShieldTM Orthodontic Pacifier. Gorgeous Vintage Meets Modern Baby Shower

by Kate on March 29th, 2013  |  5 Comments  |  Getting Ready for Baby, Life, Party Planning

I am delighted to share photos of a gorgeous vintage meets modern baby shower. My friend, Kelsey, who happens to be the very talented designer behind Max’s birth announcement and first birthday party, is expecting her first child with her husband Eric. Friends and family gathered recently to celebrate mama-to-be and as soon as I saw the photos I knew I wanted to share them. Thanks to Kelsey for allowing us to take a peek into her beautiful baby shower.

Kelsey’s mom, a fabulous wedding planner in Phoenix, Arizona, tells us about the baby shower:

Inspiration started with a vintage pram and developed into a modern/vintage theme mixing elements of the modern chevron with the vintage props…hankies…bassinet….old toys…etc. and Kelsey’s love of milk glass and vintage pieces. The venue is one of Kelsey’s favorites to work at when we do weddings, and the style of the greenhouse went perfectly with the theme. Eric’s aunts, cousins, sister-in-law, and mom were also inspired by the theme, and the group effort created a spectacular event.

Baby Registry Must Haves {Join the Conversation & Win!}

by Kate on March 27th, 2013  |  5 Comments  |  Baby, Giveaways, Reviews

It’s hard to believe that a year ago I was cuddling my little infant baby boy. The time passes way too fast. And, even though it doesn’t always feel like it, even the 9 months of pregnancy pass quickly. Especially as a first time mom, the 40 or so weeks of pregnancy don’t seem nearly long enough to prepare for baby’s arrival. From researching baby products to decorating a nursery to mentally preparing for baby’s arrival, it’s a stressful and exciting time.

Baby Registry Must HavesWith the thousands and thousands of baby products available, creating a baby registry is overwhelming and exhausting for everyone. When I was pregnant with Max I didn’t create a baby registry but I did for my first two kids and, more recently, I helped my sister with hers. As a starting point, every registry should include two basic categories of things: the important stuff you NEED for baby and fun stuff you WANT for baby. We’re often discussing want versus need with my six year old, and the obvious fact is that stuff you need takes priority. But, we think it’s important to include some extra gift options on your registry that will make you smile and squeal with delight.

Registry Must Haves

Of course, the jackpot registry item is one that checks both boxes. We have a couple suggestions for registry items that are must haves for a new baby AND will make you squeal with excitement.

1. Stroller. Register for a stroller you LOVE. One that you’ll push around the house, empty, daydreaming about what it’s going to be like with baby inside.

2. Nursery Decor / Crib Bedding. No matter what sleeping arrangement or nursery setup you have in your home, pick some decor or crib bedding that makes you happy. You and your baby will spend a lot of time in the nursery so make sure it’s a space that reflects you and your aesthetic.

3. Feeding Gear. Products to help you feed baby are a necessity during the first year, but that doesn’t mean they need to be boring. Register for a colorful nursing cover and bright and healthy, functional and whimsical bottles. Even if you plan to breastfeed you’ll want some bottles on hand.

4. Baby Carrier. We know there are a lot of options out there, but it’s worth the time to register for the carrier that will best fit your family’s babywearing plans. Get your partner involved and this is one item that will make everyone giddy. (Seriously, my husband was more excited than me when we received the baby carrier on my first son’s registry!)

5. Car Seat. The car seat is all business, we know, but once you settle on the best fit for your car and lifestyle, opt for the fabric you like most. This is the quintessential “Oh my gosh, we’re going to have a baby!” gear item so we know you’ll be excited to receive it as you prepare for your little one’s arrival.

We want to know: What is / was on your baby registry? Do you have one must have that all expecting moms should put on their registry? Twenty (yes, 20) of you who comment will receive a NUK Orthodontic Bottle.
