Oh, Christmas Tree!

This Christmas tree with one box of ornaments is the extent of our Christmas decorations. The one box I can’t seem to find from our move is, of course, the Christmas decoration box. No ornaments, no decorations, no Christmas stockings, and no base of our fake pre-lit Christmas tree. My mom and brother took pity on us and bought and delivered a tree, lights and ornaments.

But, beyond that I just can’t get in the spirit without my husband so we have no lights outside, no Christmas cookies, nothing festive. (How embarrassing that I’ll be buying cookies for Santa!) Oh well. We have a lovely little tree and we have each other. That’s what’s important.

We spent Thanksgiving morning at my dad’s house and, aside from the food, the big activity was a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest. The grandkids divided into two groups and decided it was a competition; though, I’m not sure who was crowned the winner out of the two lovelies below.

They’re both so… um, ugly different that it’s hard to pick a favorite. What do you think?

We “called” my husband on Skype tonight so he could join us in singing “Happy Birthday” to the birthday girl. It was the middle of the night where he’s deployed, but he didn’t want to miss it. So sweet.

Strike a Pose

I recently picked up again on the 365 Days of Children’s Clothes, which means my poor kids have to suffer through daily photo shoots so I can get a picture suitable for the blog about kids clothes. The other day, while rocking his Run DMC shirt, my son took his job to heart and struck a pose. Fierce!

We went Trick or Treating last Thursday (yes, we Trick or Treat on Thursday), and the kids really enjoyed it! Check out Woody, Little Bo Peep and their little cousin the Frog. We went to Build-A-Bear a couple weeks ago so the kids could make stuffed animals, of course. But more importantly, my husband recorded a custom message for each child so they can hear saying “I love you” whenever they want.

Our little town is home to the one and only (at least I hope it’s the only) MULLET FESTIVAL! Sadly, this gem of a festival is all about mullet-the-fish and not mullet-the-hairstyle. Although, you will certainly see your fair share of mullet hairstyle, but you didn’t hear that from me.

The Mullet Festival features some very interesting food. Anything seem unusual?
