I must admit, even though I absolutely love blogging about my favorite trends in clothes, bags, shoes… and everything else you stuff in your closet, it feels so good to know that you can still look and feel great in an outfit that can be thrown together with things you probably already have in your inventory. And, trust me, I do this all the time. So, while it’s easy to get wrapped up and maybe a little overwhelmed when trying to keep up with what’s the latest and greatest, remember that sometimes you don’t need to look too far when trying to pull your outfit of the day together.
I think what I love most about the outfit I pulled together here is that I can still make my clothes stand out without piling on tons of jewelry or having to rely on anything too trendy to make it memorable. I made sure with my sweater to pick one color that works well with my hair and skin tone and is also bright enough to stand out on its own. I also kept my skinny jeans a dark wash with no distressing and similar in color to my jacket which, I think, keeps things a little more on the polished side. I absolutely love this jacket because it has pretty gold hardware all throughout the front pockets and zipper and in a way, it makes up for the fact that I decided to wear no jewelry here. They’re able to add that brightness and shine without having to worry about accessories.
I know everyone is a little bit different when it comes to flats but if you ask me, they should completely outnumber all of the other shoes you have piling up in your closet. Again, don’t fall victim to buying something that is popular when they might not be a good for you. When it comes to flats always remember to keep comfort first. I can’t think of anything much worse than attempting to make it through a long day with soles that don’t support. Try to keep the basic neutral colors on hand as they go with just about everything. Think black, beige, cognac, and maybe a navy or grey. I really could have picked a navy flat here but I felt like that little bit of contrast made a pretty big difference by adding a small pop of color where you’d least expect it.
As a busy momma with a newly 5 year old who’s always on the go and job that keeps me from ever sitting down, I keep finding myself walking out of the house is only my wedding rings and and pair of earrings each day. I think I would go a little crazy if I had bangles dangling on my wrist and long necklaces swinging around my neck for 10 hours a day. So, what I’ve come to lately is making sure I have one pair of functional (…and pretty) earrings. I simply love these tear drop earrings because they aren’t heavy and the brown colored stones go with just about everything. On a day to day basis, for me, less is more when it comes to jewelry.
No matter what day of the week it may be, whether I’m working with my favorite kinder buddies at school or trying to conquer a hefty weekend “to do” list before Monday sneaks up on me again, I know that I can find what I need in my closet to be both casual and comfortable without sacrificing my style.
So, ladies, I hope I encouraged you to dig up your basics and give them new life! Just remember, we don’t have to chase current trends day in and day out in order to feel presentable each and every day.
Don’t forget you can check in with me daily at The Northeast Girl, too, where I share my wardrobe and shopping finds! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for checking out this weeks post!
