Hey ladies! I’m officially here and happy to say that it is FINALLY time to break out your booties for fall!! While we all know I’ve been wearing my favorite pair all summer long, I will say that I’m so excited to be wearing booties that are really designated for those cooler temps. It’s nice to know that we can make or break our own fashion rules but even I have to draw the line somewhere when it comes to gallivanting around the desert in a boot that goes way past my ankle. Whew, I’m hot just thinking about it!
A week or so ago, Kate mentioned to me that she was ready to take the plunge and buy her first pair a booties and maybe I would consider writing a “Booties for Beginners, 101″ post over at my blog, The Northeast Girl. I LOVED the idea and since she inspired my research, I decided to save my findings for The Shopping Mama this week! Take a look down below to see what I came up with and hopefully it helps all the girls out there who are on the fence about buying their first pair.
First off, the great thing about a bootie is that there’s so many variations out there that range anywhere from a short heel to a high heel, a short shaft to a mid shaft, fitted, loose, cutout, leather, suede, distressed… and everything else you could possibly think up. The beauty of all these choices is that you can decide which pair will look best with your own figure and even which pair work best with a particular outfit.
In my outfit today, I’m wearing a bootie that goes up to almost the middle of my shin. Keep in mind, I’m only about 5’3” so that wasn’t too hard to do, but this is a pair that generally goes a little bit farther up the leg than others. With these shoes, I made sure to wear leggings that would fit tight against my leg almost like a tight so my pants didn’t bunch up in the boots or make the shoe look extra wide. I also don’t see myself wearing these with just my bare legs and a skirt because they tend to make your leg appear shorter when you don’t have a streamlined look.
Take a look down below at three other popular ways to try out and maybe add a pair of booties to your closet this fall!
The first look is a pair of basic black booties. These booties in particular could easily be worn with some black, opaque tights and a cute sweater as well! They hit at the low ankle and if you’re opting to wear them with either bare legs and a skirt or just a skirt, make sure you keep the color basic so you keep those legs looking as long as possible! While there are tons of booties out there with a skinny heel, I suggest sticking with the wider, stacked heel for the most versatility. These can be both dressed up or down where the skinny heeled booties, to me, tend to always look dressy.
Okay, down below I’m showing you another bootie like the one I’m wearing in my pictures with a mid height shaft that I WOULD wear with the dress. The reason this works is because the light tan color works well with my skin tone and it’s fitted around the ankle. So while this style has a tendency to cut the leg off, because I’m keeping it streamlined, it will help keep the appearance that my legs don’t appear shorter and wider.
The next look features what I would like to call the “Everyday Booties“. The beauty of cognac (and I have preached this before…) is that it literally goes with EVERYTHING. You can wear it with neutrals, neons, blacks, browns, jewel tones, spring florals…and I could go on.for.days. If you’re going to invest in one pair this season and you had to chose just one color, let it be the cognac. These booties have a sweet buckle on the side to spice them up a bit and the lower ankle makes them work for skirts, skinnies, and even boyfriend jeans. The heel is also stacked and low so you know you’re going to be comfortable even if you’re on your feet all day long.
I hope I’ve inspired all your girls out there to break out your booties and get ready for cooler days ahead! Even though I only shared four of my favorite looks above, there’s tons of other ways you can style these amazing shoes. Dress them up, dress them down, wear skinnies, jeans, skirts… find your best and most comfortable look and wear them with confidence! If you’re just starting out with your first pair this fall, I guarantee you’re going to fall in love with the first step!
Happy fall days ahead, all! Thanks for checking in with me again today here and over at my site, The Northeast Girl, and I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead!
