It should come as no surprise that we are big fans of Gymboree. We’ve been buying clothes from the brand since before my first son was born and the little styles are a regular on the What They Wore blog. As a family that has been buying and wearing Gymboree for more than 6 years I can tell you we first bought because the little clothes are just so cute. But we continue to purchase them because the quality is fantastic. And, best of all, Gymboree has great promotions, including the Gymbucks program, that make the clothing a very affordable investment.

Check out our quick video – with lots of Max screaming (he can’t be tamed, people) – to get more scoop on the clothes we picked and why.
Travel with Gymboree
Whether you’re shopping for back to school or summer travel, one of the best things about Gymboree is the collections. Clothes both online and in stores are organized in clearly defined groups of coordinating and matching clothing make it easy to buy mix and match outfits. For example, we picked two shirts, a pair of shorts and a pair of pants for Max from the Shark Patrol collection. Both shirts match both bottoms so four pieces is actually four separate outfits.
Add a layering piece like we did for my older son from the Shark Collection for even more possibilities. These five pieces can mix and match for ten different complete outfits.
Baby Girl and Baby Boy collections include clothes size 3 months to 5T and Girl and Boy collections are for sizes XS (3-4) to L (10-12). As you can see from our shopping, collections are offered in both size ranges, but often have different pieces. If your child fits into both (size 3 – 5), we recommend checking both areas of the store and online for the best selection because the pieces totally match.
My daughter helped me pick a bunch of coordinating pieces from the Island Lily collection. She wanted just about everything we came across on the website but we narrowed down her choices to a dress, tunic, three shirts and two skirts plus shoes and accessories. The Rainbow Chevron dress (that she is wearing in the video above) is actually from another collection, but how could we resist? It’s fantastic!
She also picked a few great (and deeply discounted) accessories.
In this haul we grabbed five pairs of shoes! From experience, we know that Gymboree shoes are great quality and they obviously complete an outfit in style.
Shop Smart at Gymboree
We saved a ton of money shopping during the annual Everything Under $12.99 where, you guessed it, every single thing online and in stores cost less than $12.99. Never fear if you missed it because Gymboree has regular promotions that make the clothes extremely affordable. Make sure you like them on Facebook to get the scoop on all the sales.
In addition to getting great deals on this purchase – 25 items for just under $300! – we also earned Gymbucks. During specific (and well-publicized) times, for every $50 you spend at Gymboree, you earn $25 worth of Gymbucks. During Gymbucks redemption, you can turn in your Gymbucks and use them as a gift card on qualifying purchases. For example, if you have $25 Gymbucks voucher, you have to spend $50 to redeem them. It may sound confusing, but it’s actually quite simple and once you get into the habit of earning and shopping with Gymbucks, you’ll become an addict, too, just like me.
