Max is ONE. One year old. I can hardly believe that it’s been 365 days since he was born. It’s been both the fastest and slowest year ever. But more on that in the full “Max is Twelve Months Old” post. This post here is all about our wee first birthday celebration today.
Unfortunately, my husband is currently out of town for work so today was super simple. We’re having a birthday party in a couple weeks with a proper cake and friends and, well, not much else because Max is only 1. But today was just about a yummy dinner and a birthday cupcake.
First, I had to get a picture of Max in his birthday outfit and his birthday hat. He was not so sure about the hat.
And, in fact, he wasn’t so sure about the cupcake when we lit the candle and his big siblings and I sang “Happy Birthday.”
When I actually put the cupcake on his high chair, though, he showed it no mercy. He grabbed the cupcake in his fat little hand. And that was the end of the cupcake and the beginning of Max’s life as a chocoholic.
I think it’s safe to say Max liked his first cupcake.
You can just see his little brain working here, thinking “There must be some way to get the crumbs off of this plate.”
He totally went there. Licked the plate clean.
His big brother and big sister were so excited to celebrate a little bit today (and not just because they also got to eat a cupcake). They were genuinely happy to make today all about Max and they told anyone who would listen that it was his birthday.
