New Boppy Nursing Pillow Review
We’ve owned a Boppy pillow since my first son was born – that’s six years, if you’re keeping track – so we were excited to get our hands on the newest version of this must-have baby product. It’s not exaggerating to say that the newest member of the Boppy family is dramatically different from the pillow we first used years ago. The new pillow, developed with a Lactation Consultant, maintains the C shape we’re familiar with and has an eye-pleasing design, but that’s where the similarities end.
The new pillow has two distinct surfaces. The firm side is created by a removable foam insert and covered in minky fabric. The insert has a raised edge that creates a contoured surface and is ideal for use with infants. The soft side is much more cushioned (even more than the original Boppy pillow) and helps maintain a comfortable nursing position as baby grows.
Another new feature is a belt that goes around mom’s back to help keep the pillow in place against your body. We aren’t as keen on this feature but can see how it might help some moms maintain a good nursing position. If you don’t like the belt, you can easily remove it.
The entire pillow is washable – a must have for a baby feeding product! Remove the firm-side foam insert and the belt and toss it in the washing machine.

To Buy or Not to Buy
To Buy… We think the new Boppy offers improvements we didn’t even realize the pillow needed. We love the firm-side and foam insert to help position smaller infants and babies. Remove the foam inset, and the Boppy Nursing Pillow will grow with you and baby as your nursing position changes.
Or Not to Buy… Breastfeeding purists may say this product doesn’t do anything to help achieve the correct latch – and, indeed, no product will. But, as far as we’re concerned, anything that helps mom and baby find comfort while nursing deserves a thumb’s up and we know lots of moms (including us!) like the support offered by this nursing pillow.
