Using several Pinterest posts as inspiration, I completed a plate wall for my dining room several months ago.
Because I love pottery and ceramics so much, I never intended for this wall to be a permanent installation. And because I am too lazy to do much more than a wreath and some pumpkins on the porch for Halloween, I was grateful to find some adorable plates to add to my wall for the season to help make the house more festive. How cute is that chevron pumpkin plate?
In fact, as the year has progressed, I’ve found plates for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I look forward to such a simple (and beautiful) way to decorate the house for each holiday.
Using the same steps for epoxying D-rings to the back of the plates as before, I lined up my holiday plates and went to work. I cannot stress enough lining up your project and getting everything ready because, for the first time, my epoxy dried up in the tube before I finished the project and I had to open another package.
What’s that you ask? Why yes, yes I did epoxy the D-ring onto the “Happy Halloween” plate (the only plate with text and the only one I didn’t double check) on crooked. And yes, I didn’t notice until the epoxy had set. After removing the D-ring (it can be done with great effort, which is reassuring given you don’t want these falling off your wall), I simply repositioned it and added more epoxy.
The result is a great addition for our holidays. I can’t wait to add and update for Thanksgiving and Christmas as well.
Happy Halloween to you and yours!
