Couch to 5k {Week 5}

By Kate |

I was getting a little off track with my work outs and had fallen a bit behind. I’m happily back to running every other day and am half way through the Couch to 5k! Of course, I’m sure I’ll fall off the wagon when we are moving (and living out of suitcases for oh, a month), but I’ll repeat a week if I have to. Ideally, I’d love to do an actual 5k on or around my 35th birthday in August.

Completed Work Outs {Week 5}

Focus of this week was to build endurance. And, before embarking on day 2 I failed to realize that would mean dramatically increasing the length of my longest running interval. Imagine my surprise when on Week 5, Day 2 the RunMeter app told me to run for 12 minutes! And then 15 two days later! But I did it. Woot.

  • Day 1: Warm Up Walk 5 minutes; Run 3 minutes, Walk 3 minutes, Run 5 minutes, Walk 5 minutes, Run 8 minutes; Cool Down Walk 5 minutes
  • Day 2:  Warm Up Walk 5 minutes; Run 5 minutes, Walk 5 minutes, Run 12 minutes; Cool Down Walk 5 minutes
  • Day 3: Warm Up Walk 5 minutes; Run 3 minutes, Walk 3 minutes, Run 15 minutes; Cool Down Walk 5 minutes

    Hi, I recently purchased the same app runmeter and am doing the same plan, couch to 5k as you,. I cannot figure out how to change the settings so the app actually tells me when to walk or run. Right now I just have to keep opening the app and looking at the stop watch. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks and best with the running!
