Simplisse Gia Breastfeeding Pillow {Review & Giveaway}

Before baby arrived I had 32 months of breastfeeding under my breasts belt. I was fairly confident that feeding Max would go smoothly given my experience, but I still want and need helpful tools like a good breastfeeding pillow. The Gia Angled Breastfeeding Pillow is unique shaped pillow and it’s definitely helpful for new and experienced breastfeeding mamas alike. It should come as no surprise, really, given Simplisse‘s commitment to creating innovative products to support breastfeeding moms.

How Gia Works

  • Angled feeding may help digestion and reduce reflux and other feeding problems
  • Wider, flatter pillow surface helps prevent baby from rolling down
  • Patented, non-flat design positions baby at incline
  • Grows with your baby with virtually limitless positions
  • Quilted 100% Cotton, Anti-Bacterial and Stain-Resistant
  • Machine Wash & Dry/100% Cotton Shell
  • Use with or without cover

Using the Gia Breastfeeding Pillow

A few days after Max was born I realized that I had a much more comfortable latch on one side compared to the other. I had a sore cracked nipple on only that one side and it became clear that it was because of the angle the baby was laying. I had a light bulb moment and realized it was the perfect reason to use the Gia Breastfeeding Pillow. I used it every time I nursed on the more awkward side (my right side is such a troublemaker!) and quickly noticed a more comfortable experience nursing on that side. No doubt the Gia helped baby Max and I achieve a better position which resulted in the correct latch.

The pillow is large and with wide C shape making it a good fit for moms of all shapes and sizes. The wider side of the pillow is also thicker so baby lays on the pillow at an angle. The angle is helpful to keep baby comfortable while feeding and to aid digestion. The angle also creates limitless positions for baby. For example, as baby grows you can flip the pillow and use the narrow side and still achieve a good fit. When baby is sitting, the varied angles also provide different options for propping baby in a seated position.

You can see the angle of the pillow in the picture below. Max’s head is on the thicker side so he’s laying with his head higher than his feet.

One great feature that we haven’t taken advantage of is that the entire pillow is machine washable. It is made of a material that doesn’t clump so the pillow will retain it’s shape. You can use the pillow with or without a pillow cover, and the covers are also obviously machine washable.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… The Simplisse Gia Angled Breastfeeding Pillow is a great option for first time and experienced breastfeeding mamas. I love that the pillow is angled to aid mama in achieving the ideal position and to aid baby in digestion. For more information about how Gia is different from other nursing pillows, check out the Simplisse site dedicated to the Gia at www.lovemygia.com.

Or Not to Buy… The Gia is on the large size, which is convenient and helpful when nursing, but makes it impractical for travel or taking on the go.
