As you know we’ve been keeping up with the growing baby at home with a BabyBeat Fetal Doppler. I’ve loved being able to grab the doppler and take a listen to the little baby whenever I need a little reassurance. It’s also been a really great way for the kids to bond with the baby. After learning of the pregnancy using the doppler, they’ve loved hearing their little sibling’s heartbeat. My daughter, in particular, requests we listen at least every other day. She went with me to my last doctor’s appointment and when the nurse got out the doppler to get the baby’s heart rate, my daughter said, “We have dat at our house!” I didn’t tell the nurse that, in fact, our doppler is nicer.
Getting Started with BabyBeat
When you rent a fetal doppler from BabyBeat, the package arrives with everything you need to get started immediately, including ncludes a 2 ounce tube of ultrasound gel, recording cable, instructional cd, manual, and 3 AA batteries. (The tube of ultrasound gel does make a difference, by the way. I’ve tried to listen without it and it just doesn’t work nearly as well.) There’s even a due date wheel so you can double check your due date. One of the nice things about the process is that the package also arrives with prepaid return shipping so you get free shipping and free return with your rental. In addition, if you’re not satisfied for some reason, BabyBeat also offers a 10-day guarantee so you can return the doppler without hassle.
Display & Recording Baby Doppler
We’ve been lucky to be using one of the nicest doppler’s available from BabyBeat. It’s a Display and Recording Doppler which means it displays the baby’s heart rate so you don’t have to count old school style and you can record the heart beat sound. We haven’t experimented with recording yet, but I can’t wait to do that. I mean, how many people have a digital recording of their baby’s heart beat in utero? I know I don’t have one of my other kids and it’s such a unique thing. Can’t wait to do that and share it with you!
Here are the features of the BabyBeat Display/Recorder Doppler
- Large, backlit display – This BabyBeat fetal Doppler offers a large backlit display with accurate heart rate readout. This display is the largest on the market and easier to read than the competitors units. It also signals remaining battery life and signal strength. It has an extended (50 to 220 beats per minute) heart rate indicator.
- 3 MHz probe – BabyBeat fetal dopplers use 3 MHz probes, proven to pick up those small fetal heart tones earlier in pregnancy than a 2 MHz probe. Over 90% of OBs, hospitals, and midwives choose 3 MHz over 2 MHz (just ask your doctor what type of probe they use).
- Built-in recorder – BabyBeat’s recording Dopplers are the only Dopplers that let you record your baby’s heartbeat by simply pressing a button.
- Excellent sound quality – The speakers inside this Doppler provide a crisp, clear sound while searching for and listening to baby’s heartbeat.
Shop or Rent! BabyBeat offers a range of options for renting or purchasing a fetal doppler to use in your home. You can rent dopplers month-to-month, a 3 month rental or a 6 month rental. The price is more economical to start with a multiple month commitment than a month to month rental and the prices vary depending on the doppler. The doppler we’re using is $49 month-to-month, $44 a month for 3 month rental and $39 a month for 6 month rental.

Heather
January 4, 2012Another great thing about Babybeat is that they have the best customer service ever. I rented one only to later lose the baby. When I called to arrange pick up on the doppler, I was told I still had a couple months on what I had paid for if I wanted to keep it. When I told her what had happened, she arranged pick up and refunded me all the money I had paid to rent it.
If I am ever lucky enough to be pregnant again, I will definitely go with them.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Heather.
It’s very nice to hear that BabyBeat handled your situation with such care and compassion. Thanks for sharing your experience with the company.
