Tempaper Tots: Removable Wallpaper for Baby’s Room {Review & Giveaway}

If there’s one thing a military spouse gets really good at, it’s making a home out of where ever the military sends. In ten years of marriage, my husband and I have lived in at least eight different houses. Every single one has needed a little (or a lot) of TLC to make it home. In one memorable home, I painted the master bedroom four (yes, four) times before getting the color right AND had to paint it back to the horrible beige when we moved out. (I have since learned to purchase paint samples before painting the whole room.) I would have loved to have known about Tempaper back then!

Removable and Repositional Wallpaper

Tempaper is self adhesive, repositional, removable wallpaper designed by twins and their aunt. Years of working as set designers in New York left these ladies frustrated at the lack of temporary wallpaper products. So they created Tempaper.

Tempaper is not your typical wallpaper, but a self adhesive “peel-and-stick” product. Tempaper can easily be applied and removed. To apply, a back layer is peeled down to expose the adhesive. You can the press the paper onto a primed and painted surface and peel off to remove.

Tempaper is the perfect solution for renters, military families or anyone who doesn’t want the commitment (or work) of traditional wallpaper. Tempaper has a beautiful collection of grown-up styles and an adorable children’s collection called Tempaper Tots. They also make Tempaper YOU, blank Tempaper sheets that can be painted any way you choose and removed easily like all Tempaper products.

Tempaper Tots in Baby Girl’s Room

I’ve just finished installing Tempaper Tots Tusk in Morning Blue in baby girl’s room. As you can see above, it’s a huge improvement over the poorly painted “before” wall. The Tempaper was surprisingly easy to install, even for an eight month pregnant lady. (Just don’t tell my doctor I got up on a ladder at this point in my pregnancy.)

The wallpaper is basically a huge sticker. To mount it to the wall all you have to do is remove the backing and “stick.” It’s easy to peel back off and re-position if (when) you don’t get things quite right the first time. I installed an entire strip incorrectly (I blame pregnancy brain) and had to remove it the next day when I realized what I’d done. It was simple to remove and didn’t leave a mark. The most challenging part of the installation was aligning the pattern correctly. Even the corner was simpler than I expected (see far right photo above). I dreaded this last step because I was sure it would be difficult, but it turned out to be simple. I trimmed the paper slightly, but I essentially just lined of the left “good side” and let the right side follow along. The paper was so forgiving all I had to do was smooth it out and trim the excess paper that wrapped around the corner. I papered the wall with just the help of my adorable “helper” in less than 2 hours total. I love the way the wall looks. I’ll be posting more photos of the completed nursery in the near future, as soon as I decide exactly where to hang the shelves and pictures.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… Tempaper is beautiful, easy to use, and a great solution for families who move often.

Or Not to Buy… The one reason I can think not to use Tempaper is that they don’t have a design that fits your decorating style, yet. Tempaper is constantly adding new designs, so the perfect one for your space may be just around the corner.

Shop! Tempaper Tots Tusk is available directly from Tempaper on-line or at select retailers for $84.95 a roll. Also keep an eye out for deals on sites like Zulily.

After a year and a half of motherhood, Malia is finding life as a full time work-outside-the-home mom much, much more rewarding and both more and less challenging than she expected. She's constantly amazed by the wonderful new little person in her life and all his antics, but also thoroughly enjoys leaving him in loving care while she works in "grown up land" (on most days anyway). Her family will soon be growing as they plan to welcome a baby girl into the family this winter. Her impending arrival has everyone excited and a little freaked out (except for baby Jack, who at 18 months is still blissfully clueless).
