From the design genius that is Modern Bird Studios comes the new and fantastically fun ModTots. Recognizing a void in the market for simple, clean and modern art for babies and kids, ModTots creates handmade pieces that will add color and fun to any children’s space.

About ModTots

It is time for some clean, modern, and minimalist art for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers that is aesthetically pleasing to both parents and children. Welcome to ModTots by Modern Bird!  Each ModTots design starts as an original illustration by artist, Gregg Deal, and is created with a combination of digital, hand, and painting processes on an Oak composite, much like the original Modern Bird Studios pieces.  Each piece is handmade, one at a time, with love and consideration going into every one.

Modern Art for Kids

You can’t help but get drawn into the fun graphic pieces of ModTots. As soon as I started checking out the art I knew I wanted to get a piece for our new super fun kids’ bathroom. The current selection includes Animals, Robots, and Monsters (Dinosaurs are coming soon= I may have to order another piece for my son.) Each piece is a very simple, graphic version of the animal on a solid background. You pick the background color from an awesome 20 choices.

I just love Jude the Monkey so I knew I wanted him on a light green background for our new and improved kid’s bathroom. (Cool factoid worth mentioning: if you’re the first to purchase a piece, ModTots names it after your tot. So fun.) Isn’t he cute?

The piece came packed very carefully in thick bubble wrap. I was really impressed with the care and attention that went into making sure Jude arrived looking fabulous. The art is painted onto a thick piece of oak composite wood, and I like that the painting wraps around on the sides so it looks nice from every angle. Like any good piece of custom art, it’s signed on the back by the artist.

I love how it looks in the room. Just adorable. And, I have to say the photo mutes the color a bit – the background is a richer, slightly darker green than it appears in the photos.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… I love the clean, modern and graphic look of ModTots and that you can customize with your choice of background color to match any room in your house. The quality is amazing and it’s very cool knowing each piece is created just for you.

Or Not to Buy… The only downside to ModTots is the price tag. But, it’s too be expected when you are dealing with custom art.

I would love Ryann the Duck for my little girl with the green background. It would go great in her room with the rest of her duck toys!
