Princess Playtime
I made a major mistake by opening the box to put together the Carriage in front of my daughter. Oh my word, she stood behind me chanting, “Cincess! Cincess! I play!” Thankfully, it really didn’t take long to assemble. Most of the Carriage snaps together and it is secured with 8 screws. So the second problem we encountered is that my daughter thought SHE was the princess meant to live in the Carriage Playhouse. She admired herself in the mirror, tried to sit on the bed and at on the vanity stool. It was adorable, actually, but she had to get used to the idea that it was for her dolls and not her.
The Carriage Playcenter works with any doll about 15 inches in size, so don’t worry if you don’t have a Disney Princess doll yet. There is a bed, vanity with mirror and working light(!), hangers for doll clothes and a small trunk to store doll clothes and shoes. It’s really like a doll’s bedroom in a cute carriage package. My daughter’s favorite part seems to be starring at herself in the mirror, turning the light on and off, and tucking dolls into the canopy bed with blanket. As she gets older and can imagine other ways to play with her dolls I think she’ll explore new pretend play scenarios with the Playcenter, like using the vanity for the dolls (and not herself) and changing, hanging and storing clothes.
The Playcenter folds into a closed carriage, which is really more for storage (admittedly, cute storage) than for playing. It doesn’t roll along like you might suspect, though there are small wheels on the bottom of the bed posts, because the large wheels are stationary.
To Buy or Not to Buy
To Buy… My daughter really loves this Playcenter, which is honestly like a doll house for her dolls. There are very sweet accents and details like bows and hearts that make it truly princess-y. If you have a little one who likes to play with dolls, and specifically princesses, they will definitely enjoy this.
Or Not to Buy… The Playcenter is a plastic toy made in China, which is something to consider. Obviously that doesn’t mean anything to how much my daughter enjoys it, but it’s worth noting this isn’t a toy that will last 5 generations.
