November 14, 2010Here’s an even better idea from a seamstress/quilting mom to four girls….find a good used machine, supply her with her own set of basic tools(scissors, seam guide, measuring tape etc.), and a bunch of scrap fabric (thrift store might be a great place to find some if you don’t have any)…..and let her create to her hearts content!
With minimal machine safety instruction all my kids started at a young age….I even had a son doing it on his own at five….granted, his interest waned as did a couple of the girls, but that’s normal….the ones that liked it keep creating to this day. I have a high schooler who works in a quilt shop and makes her own purses, clothes etc.
My main point is….buy the real deal….if they don’t end up liking it you can always craigslist the machine!
This is an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing, Lynnea.

November 14, 2010This has got to be the CUTEST toy YET…that you have reviewed…I think! My daughter would absolutely LOVE this for her upcoming birthday. Unfortunately, the price is a little ‘steep’ for my pocket book considering I’m unemployed. Would you consider swaping/trading the sample product you received for review for the “Sizzix – Texture Boutique Embossing Machine and 91 Piece Beginners Kit” (see the review here, http://store.scrapbook.com/sz-656280.html)? I have a BRAND NEW kit that I won from a giveaway, but I have no use for it? I would happily trade you my kit for the sewing kit you reviewed here….PLEASE? Pretty Please? Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty please? Thank you for your consideration.
And thank you SO much for the AWESOME review of this terrific product. I would love to give this to my daughter for her birthday!!!
Take care and God Bless you and yours.
