Bambeeno Cashmere: A Little Luxury in Your Little One’s Wardrobe

by Kate on October 27th, 2010  |  5 Comments  |  Clothes, Reviews

Once upon a time, I was a bit of a cashmere fanatic. As soon as I had my first sweater, I was immediately in love with the feel of it – so soft and luxurious. What’s not to love? So I began to buy as much as my wallet would allow. The women behind Two Bees Cashmere want to share the luxury that is cashmere from Bambeeno Cashmere.

About Bambeeno Cashmere

Into every life, a little luxury must come. As soft and precious as the little ones in your life, Bambeeno cashmere offers luxurious knitwear in timeless designs for infants, toddlers, and the loved ones who hold them dear.

Cashmere for Kids

No doubt cashmere can be expensive and beyond many budgets. With that in mind, Bambeeno Cashmere has two lines: more expensive Pure Cashmere and more affordable Cashmere/Cotton Blend. We received a cashmere  and cotton blend Layette Cardigan for my daughter. It’s a classic cardigan style with lovely details like ivory buttons and textured neckline. But, most importantly, it’s extremely soft, as you would expect from a cashmere blend.

She’s wearing the 18 – 24 month and it is very true to size. I think it’s worth ordering a size up to maximize the time your kiddo can wear it.

Generous Gift

Bambeeno Cashmere is the perfect gift for that baby or kid who has everything. It’s luxurious, and chances are it’ll be the first cashmere in the closet. Talk about a gift that makes a statment.

To Buy Or Not to Buy

To Buy… Bambeeno Cashmere offers classic styles in a luxurious fabric for the luckiest of little ones. It’s certainly a thoughtful and generous gift, and with the holidays just around the corner, it’s a good time to splurge on a special outfit. **Updated with good news!** Bambeeno Cashmere can be washed in the washing machine on the delicate or hand wash cycle – just don’t place it in the dryer.

Or Not to Buy… The only downfall for many families will be the price tag. But, when you have an occasion to splurge, this is a great buy.

Shop! Check out Bambeeno Cashmere for luxurious cashmere for kids. Many styles are currently on sale, including the Cotton/Cashmere Blend Layette Cardigan for $68.

Recently Simon took some time off from his day job to open a “Halloween Couture Salon.”

Lost souls, suffering from costume confusion, were invited in to ask Simon’s advice. Take a look at the videos below to get some great ideas for you, and enjoy dressing up and getting out to a party! Most of the costumes are on sale now, so hit your local Target for some great deals.

Little Tikes Neighborhood Market (Review + Giveaway)

by Kate on October 27th, 2010  |  5 Comments  |  Giveaways, Reviews, Toys

Little Tikes toys are a staple in lots of playrooms and outdoor toy collections, and the toy company is focusing on sharing toys that encourage kids to “Get Up and Play!” An awesome toy for this holiday season that really gets kids playing and using their imaginations is the Neighborhood Market.

About the Neighborhood Market

This super stand is actually three markets in one!  With a quick change it can go from a fruit stand, to an ice cream shop to a bakery!

  • Can be a bakery, fruit stand or ice cream shop
  • Clear sliding doors for real shopping fun
  • 23 accessories include:
    • Cash register
    • pretend money and credit card
    • 3 lemons, 3 oranges, 4 cupcakes, 2 bunches of bananas
    • 1 ice cream scooper, 2 ice cream scoops, 2 ice cream cones
  • Awning pulls down and winds up
  • Wheels and handle
  • Pretend cash register with play money
  • Chalk board marquee

Neighborhood Market Fun!

Easy Assembly

My father-in-law had the pleasure of putting together the Neighborhood Market. And it probably would have been a much quicker process if the kids weren’t “helping” because, after seeing the photo on the box, they were so excited to start playing with it. Even with the “help”, it still didn’t take too long and the market was up and running in no time. And, since we recently moved, I can report the Neighborhood Market survived a trip cross-country and help up perfectly.

Lots of Accessories

One of the greatest selling points of the Neighborhood Market is that, in addition to an adorable freestanding toy, it comes with a slew of fun accessories. The cash register is simple, but has that all important button to make the drawer open. My kids love sliding fake credit cards – who could have taught them that?! – and playing with and pretending to eat the food that goes in the storage.

There’s also plenty of room in the storefront baskets in the market so that you can easily incorporate other play food – or anything else your little one wants to sell.

Make Room in Your Playroom

Even though we’ve had a ton of fun with other Little Tikes toys, like the Backyard Barbeque and Spray & Rescue Fire Truck, I wasn’t sure how well my kids would take to the Neighborhood Market. I mean, I knew they’d like it – what kid wouldn’t? – but I had no idea how much they would love it. This is the first toy that my daughter goes to every day when we hang out in the playroom. My nephew makes a beeline for it every time he’s over to play.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… The Neighborhood Market is a real treat. It’s hours of fun for little ones, and I really like that it encourages imaginative play and is the perfect setting for cooperative play between multiple kiddos. This is a perfect “big present” for the holidays – set it up, leave it near the tree and watch your little ones face light up.

Or Not to Buy…I hate to say it, because I really do try to provide balanced reviews, but there’s not much to improve on the Neighborhood Market.

Shop! The Little Tikes Neighborhood Market is $99.99 and can be purchased at LittleTikes.com and on Amazon with free shipping.

Win! The Little Tikes Neighborhood Market!

How to Enter: Visit Little Tikes and tell me another toy to encourage your little one to get up and play.

Bonus Entries – valid only after completing the first required entry. Please leave a separate comment for each you do.

Giveaway ends November 12. Open to US mailing addresses.

Thanks to Little Tikes for providing a sample for the purpose of this review and the giveaway prize.

Wordless Wednesday: Build-A-Bear Family Fun

by Kate on October 26th, 2010  |  5 Comments  |  Weekly Features, Wordless Wednesday

We went to Build-A-Bear a couple weeks ago so the kids could make stuffed animals, of course. But more importantly, my husband recorded a custom message for each child so they can hear saying “I love you” whenever they want.

I look forward to seeing your photos.

The Farewell

by Kate on October 25th, 2010  |  5 Comments  |  Life

My husband left yesterday.

The kids and I were allowed to go with my husband back to his gate. (He was flying on a normal  Southwest plane to another city where he caught a chartered military flight to the desert.) It was kind of bizarre to have our farewell in a regular airport, especially since he was wearing civilian clothes and not his uniform.

My son wanted to sleep with his Blue Star Family Flag. I had already hung it by the front door, but when he was going to bed he said, “I want that flag that says we love and miss dada very much.”

Tonight? I found him sleeping in my bed a half hour after I put him to bed in his own. I think that means I should finish this post so I can go cuddle him.

Another Total Gym Update

by Kate on October 25th, 2010  |  5 Comments  |  For Mama, Reviews

I have come to the conclusion that there are two paths I can take on this deployment journey: fat or fit. I’m serious. The stress, long nights, dining solo with kids every day… it doesn’t really set me up for the most healthy eating habits. I need to start on the right foot, and that means committing to working out and eating (mostly) right.

So, feel free to hold me to this promise: I will work out 4 times a week on the Total Gym. I have been working out on it a good amount until the past week when it was packed in a box and driven across the country by a moving company. Before then, though, my husband and I did it together. It was part of our nightly routine. Now that he’s not here I need to make it MY routine. I can do it… Right?

Total Gym: More About the Machine

Enough about me, let me tell you a little more about how the Total Gym actually works. Here are some fun facts about the Total Gym from the website:

  1. Total Gym comes fully assembled. Just pull it out of the box and have it set-up in minutes.
  2. Total Gym folds flat for storage against a wall, in a closet or under a bed to about the size of an ironing board.
  3. To boost your cardio workout, perform the Total Gym exercises one after another without any rest period in-between.
  4. Crunched for time? No problem! Total Gym has a variety of workouts that will get you a total body workout in just 10-20 minutes a day.
  5. With Total Gym, you target all major fitness areas with just one workout: resistance training, cardio training and stretching. Everything your body needs on just ONE machine.
  6. With Total Gym you can build & sculpt your muscles at the higher incline.
  7. With Total Gym you can firm & slenderize your body at the lower incline.
One of the things that is most unique is that the Total Gym relies on your body weight to create resistance. The level of resistance and intensity increases as you raise the Total Gym incline. (Though there are a few exercises where a lower incline is actually harder, which is indicated on the exercise card.) The incline has six set positions, and you can estimate the resistance in pounds based on your weight. The photo below is of a graph from the resistance exercise card so you can see how it works.
Because my goal is to build long, lean muscle and not bulk, I am not as concerned about increasing the level at which I exercise. I’m still focusing on doing the exercise correctly and increasing reps and sets.
