Dinosaur Party!

Even without a birthday on the horizon in our house, with all the kid’s party talk I couldn’t resist hosting a little get together. Last week we had a few friends over for what we dubbed “A Dinosaur Tea Party.” I have no idea why we called it that since tea was nowhere on the menu, but my son loved the name so it stuck.

The party was planned around the It’s a Party dinosaur collection from Meri Meri. We delivered Dinosaur Party Invitations to a couple of my son’s best little friends.

I prepared grilled cheese, peas and watermelon, but we dino’ed it up with the Dino Sandwich Cutter from Williams-Sonoma. (You can also check out this affordable alternative from DynoBytes.) The kids got to eat at the fancy table and I served the food on our regular dinnerware. (I know – risky! – but there were no casualties.) The cupcakes were on the cute Roaaaarrrr! dinosaur plates from Meri Meri.

A dinosaur centerpiece joined them at the table – he really roars!

No party is complete without some form of cake. I am really not that crafty but our cupcakes looked dino-riffic (oh, yes, I did just write that) with the Meri Meri cupcake kit of cupcake liners and cupcake toppers. The cupcakes were displayed on a cupcake stand from Green Party Goods.

The kids took home a little party favor bag with Dinosaur Silly Bandz and Dinosaur Flash Cards I picked up at Barnes & Noble. Everyone also got a dinosaur temporary tattoo!

We had a great time and it was fun to make a lunch play date something special with a theme, invitations, and decor.

Disclosure: I was provided Meri Meri products and a Green Party Goods cupcake stand. This post contains ana affiliate link.

I love the idea of having a party without a reason. This is so inspiring, adorable and just fabulous!

Aside from the stress of my little one biting all the big kids (UGH!), it was really fun to turn a play date into a party.
