Hard & Sugar-Free Cotton Candy Maker Review
We received the perfectly nostalgic Hard & Sugar Free Cotton Candy Maker for review. Right out of the box, the cotton candy machine drew “Ooohs” and “Aaahs” from both adults and kids, as the crisp white and soft pink colors make you think of cotton candy stands at the carnival. The kids (myself included!) couldn’t wait to get to work…or better yet PLAY!
Set up was very easy: Simply attach the center receptacle onto machine base, as well as the translucent pink bowl. Then just plug in, turn on, and insert two hard candies of your choice into the receptacle.
As soon as the machine started to produce the cotton candy, an audience of little ones magically appeared…
The instructions indicate what types of hard candy produce the best results, and we ended up using Jolly Ranchers with our first use of the machine. While the children enjoyed the flavor of the cotton candy, the adults were somewhat disappointed as the cotton candy we produced did not taste like traditional cotton candy…it tasted like Jolly Ranchers. This is not the fault of the machine, it’s ours for choosing a candy that, although it did produce great-tasting cotton candy, it did not produce nostalgic-tasting cotton candy. We haven’t tried it yet, but you can also use traditional sugar or flavored sugar to make cotton candy that will taste more traditional.
To Buy or Not to Buy
To Buy… Without a doubt, The Hard & Sugar Free Cotton Candy Maker is a crowd-pleaser. Both parents and children alike were fascinated by the machine, and very eager to try the finished product. The machine was adorable, easy to assemble, even easier to use, and the cotton candy tasted soft and sweet.
Or Not to Buy… The Cotton Candy Maker comes with two reusable plastic cones. We would have liked a few more included with the kit because as you can see, we had three little ones present and only two cones. Nostalgia Electrics offers a Cotton Candy Kit which includes 24 paper cones, though next time I am sure that we can get creative and make our own!
Shop! The Hard & Sugar Free Cotton Candy Maker is priced at $39.99, and can be purchased at Manufacturer’s Clearance along with other fun nostalgic machines.
