Unless this is your first time visiting The Shopping Mama, you know that I am a wee bit obsessed with children’s clothes. Like to the point that I document what my kids wear every day. So you can imagine my delight at the opportunity to review (and offer a giveaway for!) Charming Necessities, an adorable shop featuring handmade boutique clothing and dresses for kids.
About Charming Necessities
Jenni, the designer behind Charming Necessities, is the mother of four – two boys and twin girls. She has a background in Makeup Artisty and now puts her training in color theory to use in designs for little ones She says, “I enjoy seeing my creations come to life, and I love working with different colors, patterns, and textures. I take pride in each item – and make them as carefully for your little ones as I would for my own children.” All of the handmade creations at Charming Necessities are professionally finished to give truly boutique quality.
Apron Peasant Dress
I consider myself very lucky that my daughter is one of the first to get her little self in the brand new “Sweet As a Rose Peasant Dress” from Charming Necessities. When Jenni sent the pattern for the dress I was in love and seeing it come to life in adorable fabrics… well, it’s just sweet.
This dress has it all!!
- Puff Sleeves
- Extra full skirt for maximum twirlability
- Elasticized neckline and arm holes allows for easy dressing
- A sweet, girly apron
- Sash belt that ties into a bow in the back – for extra cuteness and helps create the perfect fit on your little angel!
- Made with 100% cotton fabrics, in coordinating colors.
- Professionally finished edges, topstiched when appropriate.
From the puff sleeves to the twirly skirt, this Apron Peasant Dress is full of life. My daughter wore it for Father’s Day and a couple other times since when we feel like playing dress up. I know she’s only 19 months, but I’m pretty sure she knows this dress is special. You should see her spin in circles sing-songing “Asheeee, Asheeee” as the dress twirls and whirls around her. (Her version of “Ashes, ashes” from Ring Around the Rosie.)
In addition to looking simply divine, the dress is beautifully crafted. The finishes and details are perfect and it even washes well. I am very impressed with the dress and pretty much in love.
We also received a very fun Flower Hair Clip on a crotchet band to coordinate with the dress. It is quite cute. When my daughter will keep it on. She’s really tormenting me by pulling every bow out of her head these days, but it looked great while it lasted.
More Charming Necessities
I can’t tell you how difficult it was to narrow down to just a few pieces to mention in this post. Every dress is just as pretty as the next one, but here are a few of my favorites. Could you die from the Vintage Beauty Sunsuit? Oh my cuteness, ruffles on the butt.
I love the Wild Child Diaper Cover. So fun!
To Buy or Not to Buy
To Buy… Oh, I love this dress. It is absolutely to die for and I can’t tell you how many compliments we get on it. For the (very reasonable) price, this is a show stopper of a dress that any little girl would be lucky to wear.
Or Not to Buy… I try very hard to be objective and balanced in reviews. But, seriously? I can’t think of a single reason not to buy this dress.
Shop! The Sweet As a Rose Apron Peasant Dress is $42 to $49, depending on size and is available in size 6 – 12 months all the way up to size 8. The Pink Peony Flower Clip is $4.99 and coordinating Crotchet Headband is $1.99.
