It never ceases to amaze me how much *stuff* we have to pack just to get out the door. I sure hope I’m not the only one who feels like I throw everything but the kitchen sink into the car just for an afternoon on the town. That’s why I get so giddy for multi-tasking products like the Kemby Sidekick. In short, the Sidekick = stylish diaper bag + baby carrier. Crazy, right? Crazy good!
About Kemby
At Kemby, we are committed to creating smart, innovative products that enhance happy family living. Why? Because we have families ourselves. We know that “packhorse parent” feeling all too well and we want to make life easier – for us and for you. We’re constantly looking for innovative solutions that will make things simpler and more fun so we can focus on what’s important: children and happiness. And because looking good is part of feeling good, we design our products to be as beautiful as they are durable, so using them is a joy you can experience over and over again.
How It Works
Transforming your Sidekick from diaper bag to diaper bag with carrier is very easy. It’s just a matter of unzipping the top of the Sidekick, adjusting the strap to fit your waist, and inverting the pouch to reveal the carrier. It’s by far easier than some baby carriers, which is pretty impressive considering this is converting from a diaper bag. (And I hate to say converting from because it’s still a diaper bag. When in use, the carrier function in no way interferes with the size or access to the diaper bag.

Our Experience
The Kemby Sidekick is very easy and intuitive to use. I think it’s best suited for the average day when you’re out and about. It’s not as comfortable as other baby carriers so I don’t think it’s the best pick for a hike or day-long carrying. It’s perfect for a child my daughter’s age and size who has moments of independence and wants to walk everywhere, but tires quickly. I can quickly switch up the bag to carry her to finish our errands. It’s not intended for use until your baby has good head control and by that point you aren’t schlepping quite as much stuff so the smaller size of the diaper bag is perfect.
To Buy or Not to Buy
To Buy… The Sidekick is a great, functional diaper bag on its own – the ability to carry your baby is a bonus. And, indeed, a great bonus. I’m really impressed with the compact size for all the features and storage in the bag, and obviously you save room because you don’t need to worry about packing or carrying along a separate baby carrier.
Or Not to Buy… The Sidekick won’t replace a traditional baby carrier, but it can be your only diaper bag. Even though I like the current 3 color options, I’d love to see more including one with black trim.
