Mickey’s Magic Choo Choo Review

mickey magic choo chooIn the words of Toddler Boy, “This is the best toy eber.” Yes, Mickey’s Magic Choo Choo is a hit with toddlers, and with solid construction and allowing easy solo play, it will satisfy parents, too.

Mickey’s Magic Choo Choo

All aboard for a magical ride! This mouske-train features two fun ways to play! In Magic Mode, this choo choo knows the way to go! Watch as the engine magically picks up and lays down the train track all by itself! In Classic Mode, you can set up the track and take Mickey for a ride while a “Choo Choo Song” plays and the whistle blows!

The Magic Choo Choo comes with a large engine, conductor Mickey, train car, 10 track pieces, and two signs.

See it in Action

Watch the video to see both the Classic Mode and Magic Mode of play. The Magic Mode is really cool – the train picks up and places two pieces over and over again for a never-ending train track. (Or at least until it runs into a wall.)

Well, you already know that Toddler Boy loves it! And, I have to say I’m impressed, too. Even my husband chimed in saying, “This thing is pretty cool.” The train car is very solid and well-made as are the track pieces. The best example I can give is that the bottom of the track is lined with a non-slip material so the train works on both hardwood / tile surfaces as well as low-profile carpet. (We don’t have any traditional carpeting – just Berber and rugs – so I can’t speak to how it works on that surface.)

Another feature that I really appreciate about the track pieces is that they are easy to put together. The pieces connect with adorable mouse ear shapes and Toddler Boy can do it by himself. He’s still mastering the ability to set the train up for “Magic” mode, but it’s made pretty easy with arrows on the track pieces. At 3 and a fan of Mickey, he’s definitely the target audience for this toy.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… I think you can get a lot of bang for your buck with this toy on Christmas morning. It’s a fun take on a classic train set and will be an especially big hit with fans of Mickey Mouse’s Clubhouse. The “Choo Choo” song is cute and the phrases Mickey says are cute play on words.

Or Not to Buy… If you’re looking for a traditional train set, this isn’t it. It’s more for Mickey fans and suggested for children ages 3 and up.

We got this toy for DS3 before Thanksgiving at KMart for $35! So glad we got it on sale for him and it’s all he wants for Christmas so I can’t wait for him to open it Christmas morning! Thanks for the review!

I’ve been debating on getting this set for Kaydee and just can’t decide if it’s something she’ll play with long term.

I was in Toys R Us today but couldn’t find it.

Purchased for Christmas for my grand daughter, she loves it. Problem is it will not operate in classic mode on hardwood, tile or anythnig else. Had to return it, of course no others available for replacement. Major disappointment for the grandaughter, now she is asking for her choo choo Mickey, and we don’t have one.

I’m not sure what you mean about it not operating in classic mode on hardwood. We had great luck with it on our laminate flooring.
