I am beyond thrilled that tomorrow afternoon I’ll be speaking with Annabel Karmel, the best-selling author of seventeen books on baby and children’s food and nutrition! In addition to being excited, I’m also quite nervous and starstruck. After all, her books have sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. I absolutely relied on the book Top 100 Baby Purees when I made Toddler Boy’s baby food and recommended it to anyone who would listen.
Annabel Karmel recently added three new books to her collection.
First Meals & More: Your Questions Answered is packed with expert advice and tips to help guide parents through every aspect of feeding their baby and toddler, form birth to age three.
In her third family cookbook, Cook It Together, Annabel focuses on 10 top ingredients that kids love and presents them in a whole new way.
From juicy red apples to bright green broccoli trees, I Can Eat a Rainbow is a sumptuous, tabbed board book that shows preschoolers a beautiful rainbow of wonderful, healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables.
Here’s where you come in… what questions would YOU like answered? We’ll discuss every topic from from weaning a breastfeeding baby to picky toddlers to healthy eating as a family. Please leave a comment with a question you’d like me to ask Annabel when I speak with her tomorrow.
Win! I’m giving away ALL THREE of Annabel Karmel’s new books after the interview. Want some extra entries into that giveaway? (Of course you do!) Leave a question!

July 2, 2009I started my babies on solids between 4-6 months. Until that time, each was solely breastfed. Each of them developed a problem with constipation, two developed food allergies.
I have a suspicion that I should have waited longer before starting them on food.
When do you recommend starting solids and why? Also, what are the first five or ten solids you recommend (specific cereals, fruits, veggies).
Thanks!

What is the best way to introduce meats to an infants diet while avoiding the jarred meats?

July 2, 2009What is the earliest age that you can get your kids involved in cooking and nutrition?
What is the easiest way to get your children involved?
My kids are 6, 4 & 2. How can I involve all three of them in dinner planning and preparation without one getting jealous of the other(s)?
I like to take my kid's grocery shopping although I know a lot of people advise against. I give them choices to make. What are some things that I can do to make it more fun for my kids to grocery shop?
What are the best aids for cooking in the kitchen with the kids? For instance, The Learning Tower, etc. I am concerned about letting them cook but keeping them safe. I don't want them standing on a chair.

July 2, 2009What made her want to write a cook book for kids as opposed to adults.
What is the easiest meal for a kid to make with minimal help from Mom?
Does she think that having the kids help make the meal will help them to want to eat the healthy foods they helped prepare?

July 2, 2009How can I "trick" my toddler into eating healthy snacks? I feel like snacktime is where I am slack about healthy choices.

July 2, 2009When do you feel it is the best time to wean baby? I have weaned all 4 at different times so far. One at 6 months because we both were anemic .. one at 1 1/2 year because he was biting me … Should I stop nursing cold turkey all at once or gradually?
thanks and blessings,
Stefanie

July 2, 2009Why does my baby love a food so much one day, but the next she'd rather go hungry than eat that same food?!
My daughter never ate ANY babyfood. She still has to have so many bottles because she hardly gets any nutrients being so finicky. She's almost 2 and I've had it!
