Toddler Nutrition Resources

All this talk about picky eaters has me on a search for more resources to get advice about toddler nutrition. I’ve found a couple websites that I think are helpful, informative and interesting.

* Parents Magazine has a lot of great articles and Q & A’s with real-world advice. (If prompted, you don’t need to sign in, simply click in the top right corner to continue to story.) It has everything from how-to avoid drama while dining out to top 10 mistakes parents make (I’m definitely guilty of 7 of the 10 – no shocker there). There is even a discussion of whether or not to bribe a picky eater – an area where I’ve been struggling.

* Nutrition Exploration is a product of the National Dairy Council. The website has resources for educators, school nutrition professionals, and kids as well as parents. It has an interactive guide to the new Food Pyramid, and I really like the Healthy Kitchen section that has tips on grocery shopping, recipes and tips for cooking safe.

* For recipes and basic tips, I like the Annabel Karmel website. Granted, I’m a big fan of Annabel Karmel’s cookbooks so it’s only natural that I also enjoy the website. It’s divided by age group so you can find recipes appropriate to your kiddo.

What do you think? Do you have any websites or books that you find particularly helpful?

Another great website is from my mentor Ellyn Satter. http://www.ellynsatter.com. In 2008, the American Dietetic Association said she is "still the best" when it comes to childhood feeding. I used to be a physician, and after having feeding struggles with my own daughter, I trained with Ellyn, and am now helping families locally and by phone and teaching other physicians how to help. Fixing a feeding relationship can transform not only a child's eating, but the atmosphere in the home. http://www.familyfeedingdynamics.com
    Good luck!

Being a toddlers mom is quite tedious & parents tend to force kids to eat. I have come across a health drink which supplements the dietary requirements for kids.
