Baby Dipper Review (+ Giveaway Sneak Peek)
15 June 2009
If you’ve ever fed a baby you know that all bowls and spoons are not created equal. Baby food is essentially mush. You have to work to get it on the spoon. If you have an ordinary basic bowl that means lots of time spent moving the food around all to gather one little bite. Add the bonus challenge of the bowl slipping and sliding around the dining table and you have to use two hands. No fun.
Enter the
Baby Dipper! Created by Barbara Schantz, the mama to TWO sets of twins(!), the Baby Dipper is a bowl and spoon set specially designed with parents in mind. Faced with the task of feeding twins by herself as a stay at home mom, Barbara needed to feed a child solids sucessfully with only one hand. After trial and error of other bowls and lots of research, Barbara developed the brilliant Baby Dipper.
The design of the bowl is unique and, well, pretty darn genius. The bowl is not round. Instead, it’s a sloping triangle so the food automatically gathers in one area. The bowl has a non-slip bottom that actually works. The spoon rests on the bowl easily without sliding into the bowl or onto the table. I also love that the spoon actually rests on the bowl – it helps to limit the mess to your baby’s face and not the table.

I didn’t think it was possible to really love a baby bowl and spoon until I used the Baby Dipper. It is honestly that different from others on the market. The angular shape and contoured interior really do a lot of the work for you – gathering and keeping food in one area that’s easy to access. And, although many bowls claim to be non-slip, you and I both know better. The Baby Dipper, however, really does stay in place when you spoon out food. True to the inspiration, this bowl and spoon set do allow for easy one-handed feeding.
To Buy… To quote my husband, “This thing in AWESOME.” It truly allows for one handed feeding – a must for multi-tasking (and by that I mean, you actually want to eat as well as feed) mamas.
Or Not to Buy… If I could change one thing, I would make the bowl larger. It’s the perfect size for us now but we’d be able to use it longer if could hold more than an infant portion size.
Win! The Baby Dipper will be included in an All About Eating prize pack… stay tuned!

The Baby Dipper is awesome. We have one too and it's just really neat. I highly suggest them.
Very neat! My son is starting to eat solids now, so I should look into getting one of these!
I love the Baby Dipper, makes feeding my twins soo much easier. I agree with you about the size, would be great if they came in two sizes.
I have this and it is wonderful. The first time I tried it, I gave my 21 month old yogurt in it and she didn't spill at all. (normally she gets frustrated with not getting enough on the spoon and starts to use her hands.) I would recommend this to everyone!
i WANT this for sure! we're starting solids w/ our youngest soon and i definitely want to get one of these.
I'm gathering everything to get me prepared…..this would be great!

Maybe you could make it large enough to be ADULT size? That would come in helpful when eating soup perhaps ;)
