So Much More Than a Clock! My Tot Clock Review

It’s no secret sleep doesn’t come easily in my house. Between Baby Girl waking up throughout the night and my Husband snoring, the last thing I need is Toddler Boy interrupting my limited sleep. Thankfully, he is generally a very good sleeper. But, we did have a hiccup several weeks ago – he was waking up way to early in the morning and fighting bedtime. That’s why I couldn’t have been more excited when we had the opportunity to try the My Tot Clock.

Like so many of us, Pamela Gonzalez decided she needed some help to stop her son from waking several times throughout the night. She says,
“I came up with what I thought was a great idea! I would tell Gabriel that he couldn’t get out of bed until the sun woke up. Genius move, right? Well, not exactly. Gabriel woke up every hour to tell me that the sun was awake! I knew I needed something better than the sun to solve this problem! I needed to buy one of those clocks. You know, one of those clocks that changes colors, so children would know when to sleep and when it’s okay to get out of bed. After putting Gabriel back down…again, I hit the Internet (hey, I was up already!), and I started searching for the magic clock! I searched, and searched to no avail. The clock was nowhere to be found, so I vowed that night to invent it!”

Invent she did! Pamela created the My Tot Clock that is an all-in-one sleep aid, alarm clock, and timer aimed at kiddos 2 and older. The Clock has a color-coded face that cues kids to sleep time and wake time. The parent sets the clock, programs bed time, wake time, nap duration, timeout and play duration. You can also program white noise to play at sleep time and music to play at wake time. I was a little intimidated when I saw all the buttons on the back, but it was extremely easy to program and I even cheated and didn’t use the thorough directions.

I was eager to try the My Tot Clock and was thrilled that Toddler Boy was immediately interested when we opened it. He caught on to the color codes right away.
* Green: Encouragement / Play time
* Yellow: Wake time
* Red: Discipline / time out
* Light Blue: Nap
* Dark Blue: Bedtime

Before the My Tot Clock, Toddler Boy would usually wake at 6:30 in the morning and holler quite loudly for me until I went to him. After the My Tot Clock, my little man literally hangs out on his bed talking to himself and allowing me to sleep until after the clock turns yellow. I never would have believed it, but I sure do love that extra half hour or so of sleep!

Toddler Boy relies on it for wake time, and also knows that the blue light means bed time with no questions asked. Before My Tot Clock, we were going through quite the phase where Toddler Boy would drag out bed time for.ever. He would make every request he could think of to get us to go back into his room and put off sleep. Seriously, after My Tot Clock he knows it’s bedtime with no negotiation. My husband even reports that Toddler Boy corrected him at nap time this weekend and said, “Dada, turn on the blue light for night night.”

In addition to cuing the My Tot Clock lets off just enough light to be a perfect night light. I love that the My Tot Clock also includes white noise and nighttime stories. Toddler Boy has totally grown accustomed to his own separate white noise machine so we don’t use that feature but it is an awesome addition to the Clock.

To Buy…? The My Tot Clock has everything covered when it comes to toddler sleep issues. It has really been a great addition to our bedtime routine.

…Or Not to Buy? No guarantees from me that you will have the same results we did. (Although, My Tot Clock does offer a better sleep or your money back.) If your child is stubborn or super strong willed it might be more of a challenge.
