Graco Multi-Child Digital Baby Monitor Giveaway (Closed)

by Kate on May 16th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

When Baby Girl was born I looked around and researched monitors but had trouble finding a single monitor system that would allow us to listen to both the baby’s room and our son’s room. I could find plenty of monitor’s that had two receivers, but not one that had two transmitters. I refused to buy two monitors to have two receivers in our bedroom at night. I mean, really, it would look more like a McDonald’s drive through than a place to sleep. Do you know what my “solution” was? Put ONE monitor transmitter in the hallway between the childrens’ bedrooms. Um, not so effective. If only I’d known about the Graco imonitor Multi-Child Monitor!

Lucky for you, readers of The Shopping Mama, you can avoid this situation because Graco is giving away one imonitor Multi-Child Baby Monitor!

Why I Love the imonitor Duo Monitor:
* Monitor 2 children OR 2 rooms at the same time!
* 2 Color sound lights let you “see” which child you are listening to as it switches between rooms
* 100% Digital Technology so you can clearly hear your little ones

It also offers complete privacy so you can’t hear your neighbors and they can’t hear you. (Don’t get me started about hearing my neighbor discussing making pancakes for an, um, overnight guest one morning. Very awkward, I assure you.) The monitor offers up to 2000 foot range to hear your baby all around your home with an out of range warning when you’re straying too far. And, if you’re like me and will inevitably lose the receiver unit, there is a “parent unit” finder to help you out.

Shop! Check out the awesome Graco website for a wide range of must have baby items, including my infant carseat of choice, the SnugRide. You can purchase the Multi-Child Monitor set that includes 2 parent units, 2 nursery units, and 4 a/c adaptors for $129.99

In Search Of: Baby Teether

by Kate on May 14th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

I’m on a bender, that’s for sure. I. Can’t. Stop. Shopping. Do you ever do that? Go weeks without buying anything and then go nuts for a few days. Well, I need to stop.

But, before then I really want to get Baby Girl a teether or some sort of little grabby toy that she can safely put in her mouth. Let’s face it, that’s where everything goes when a six month old is around and I can’t handle her gumming her brother’s blocks, cars and generally un-baby friendly toys any longer. I also want to get more than the average cheap-o teether because the poor thing has NO toys. So, here are a few of my favorites that I’m considering.

How great is this set of 2 Fruit Stained Teethers from Ticki Tacki Toys? Both teethers are made of maple wood and one is stained with blueberries and the other is stained with beets. They are finished with beeswax and flax seed oil. I think it’s so cool that they are handmade and stained with fruit! The set of 2 is $15.

I’ve been eyeing Sophie the Giraffe for a long time – I think since Toddler Boy was a baby, actually. Sophie is made of natural rubber and makes a funny noise when squeezed. Because of the sweet giraffe shape, I think it’s easy to imagine a little on gnawing on it. Sophie is $22.95 at The Land of Nod, which seems like a bit much and explains why I haven’t bought her yet!

I am just loving everything at Naturally Trendy. They offer a great selection of safe teething toys, including the Rattle Key Chan Pie Gnon. The three little mushroom keys make noise and are bright and colorful. This is currently on sale for $10.80.
So, what do you think? Do you have a favorite teething toy? Which one should I get? Help a Mama out!

Facts of Life…

by Kate on May 14th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

You take the good, you take the bad
You take them both, and there you have
The facts of life, the facts of life

The good? My son went poop on the potty several times today!
The bad? It was diarrhea.

Sorry for the poop talk. But, seriously, thank god I didn’t have to clean the nastiness that would have been if it were in a diaper. Poor little guy.

College Reunion = Lots of Shopping

by Kate on May 13th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

I’m in major shopping mode to get everything I need to go to my college reunion next weekend. I admit, I might be going a little overboard. What do you think?

Let’s see… yesterday I ordered a Booty Duty from The Royal Details to match my new bag. I want to take my beautiful new Bags by Colette bag, but need to get it diaper bag ready. Don’t worry, the Booty Duty will be made of the same awesome Amy Butler fabric as my bag so the two will coordinate and look lovely.

On Mother’s Day I hit the lame-o mall in our town and got myself an outfit for the dinner and party at reunion. I think I like the outfit, but honestly I don’t know if it’s “my style”. The real issue, of course, is that I so rarely buy clothes for myself any more that I am not sure what “my style” is. Is it bad that I coordinated my entire outfit around my new Smart Mom Jewelry teething bling necklace?

The part of reunion I am most looking forward to is a very sentimental parade that includes all alumnae and the graduating class. Everyone in the parade wears white and it’s just beautiful. (I went to a women’s college.) I already have an outfit, but Baby Girl did not. Admittedly, this is where my shopping for reunion gets ridiculous. I bought her a white dress. And had it embroidered for reunion. She’ll never be able to wear the damn thing again. (But she’ll look cute for that one day!) Of course, she needed a hairbow to match the dress and its custom embroidery so I got her an adorable korker from Five Blessed Bows.

So, of course every time I think about Baby Girl and I parading in our white outfits I get totally fixated on the fact that I don’t have a carrier to match. I mean, seriously, my Bjorn, sling and wrap are black. How much better would we look if the carrier was white or at least a light color? I so wish I had a Latte lillebaby carrier!

Clearly I’m forgetting something… I’m off to keep shopping.
