Hoohobbers Diaper Bag Giveaway (Closed)

by Kate on May 27th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Since 1981, Hoohobbers has designed and manufactured award-winning products in the USA.

The first Hoohobbers product created was the now classic junior director chair / booster seat and has grown to a company that offers literally everything you can imagine for babies and children and mamas.

The original Hoohobbers product (director chair / booster seat) is a lightweight folding chair that can be fastened to an adult chair and used as a booster seat or placed on the floor and used by itself. The chair is made of sturdy weatherproof material and can be used outside as well as indoors. I’m thinking this would make a great beach chair for Toddler Boy.
The Baby Rocker looks like a real winner for fussy newborn babies. The soft material of the swing cradles baby and the swing is initiated by baby’s movement. Like all Hoohobbers products, the swing is available in a wide variety of adorable fabrics and color combinations.

Hoohobbers Diaper Bags come in three styles: tote, backpack and messenger and are available in tons of different fabrics. The diaper bags are made from denier nylon so they are built to last. The diaper bags have four pockets (pockets on the tote diaper bags and backpack diaper bags are outside; on the messenger diaper bags they’re inside) that are also lined in nylon for easy-cleaning. They can also be thrown in the washing machine!

I seriously can’t tell you which design is my favorite. I like that the backpack style is so versatile and can be worn as a single strap sling over one shoulder or as a traditional backpack over both shoulders. I love the way the way the two coordinating fabrics look on the messenger bag style and I love the ease of use with a tote style. And, don’t get me started trying to pick a favorite design!

Shop! Hoohobbers has a HUGE selection of adorable products for your little ones – everything from bibs to Moses baskets to lunch boxes. For summer, check out the cute kids’ cover ups and luggage. And if you’re shopping for mama, the diaper bags are $70.

Win! Hoohobbers is generously giving one reader of The Shopping Mama the diaper bag of your choice. You pick the style and design!

Memories to You Giveaway

by Kate on May 26th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

We’ve reached the end of the Support Military Moms event and I’ve saved a good shop and giveaway to share. Memories to You features handmade Memory Boards made of fabric and ribbon.

Memory Boards make a wonderful addition to any room, whether you are using them to organize photos, business cards, school projects, and artwork or just as a decorative touch. Hair bows are all the rage these days… this is the perfect way to organize and display them.

Hair bows? You had me at hair bows! If you read The Shopping Mama at all, you may know I have a serious addiction to darling hair accessories for my daughter and a Memories to You board would make a great way to organize and display our ever-growing collection.

Memories to You offers more than Memory Boards, and I just LOVE the fabric flower magnets.

Before we get to the giveaway, let’s get to know Kim of Memories to You.

TSM: When did you start making your goods? When did you start selling them?
I made my first memory board in the spring of 2008. I made one for my kitchen and one for my husband to keep in his room during his deployment. I didn’t start selling until September of 2008.

TSM: What is the inspiration behind your work?
I had searched the world over for a memory board for my house but couldn’t find one that was the color or quality I preferred. I figured there were probably other people in the world like me who wanted something a little nicer than what was being sold in the chain stores.

TSM: What is the best part about owning your own business?
The flexibility and the freedom. I don’t have to ask my boss for permission to come in late or take a longer lunch.

TSM: How long has your husband been in the military?
My husband has been active duty for almost 18 years and we have been married for just over 12 years.

TSM: What is your favorite part about being a “military mom”?
I love moving around. It is exciting to see new places and meet new people.
I still visit my mom in the house we moved to when I was 5 – I did not move around as a child, but I just love seeing new places and agree that it’s exciting. Never boring – that’s for sure!

TSM: What has been the biggest adjustment to military life?
The moving around. It is hard to leave the friends I have made but thanks to modern technology it has gotten a little easier.

TSM: What’s the most common misconception about life in the military?
Oh boy, where do I start!

Shop! Memories to You has a great selection of Memory Boards in a variety of sizes, including cute mini boards. There are also a number of Memory Boards currently on sale.

Win! Kim is offering a 9 x 12 Memory Board custom made for the winner in either Green or Pink Camo! What a great way to keep some mementos for your little one in his or her room.

Bath Made Fun with The Village Company Review + Giveaway

by Kate on May 26th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Bath time is one of those times of the day that can be super fun or a total nightmare. You know what I mean, right? If Toddler Boy is in a good mood, bath time is a blast full of laughs and fun. If he is not in the mood for a bath, holy moly, is it painful! Luckily, we have some great products from The Village Company that are always a hit.

The Village Company manufactures bath products including Sesame Street and Mr. Bubble. We were sent the awesome Sesame Street Foam Soap, Sesame Street Finger Paints, and Mr. Bubble Extra Gentle 3-in-1. We have had a great time watching our little guy enjoy his bath while getting clean!

The Sesame Street Foam Soap was a total winner with Toddler Boy from the first moment we squirted the foamy goodness on his hands! The Foam Soap floats on water and stays put on body until you’re ready to wash. Because the foam stays put, I like that it is easy for Toddler Boy to wash himself without wasting any. Available in fruity scents, the smell is a tad strong for my taste but it was loads of fun.

The Sesame Street Finger Paints come in a set of three primary colors. The containers of paint are a good size and last for quite a while even with lots of play- we’ve been playing with them for a month and they are still half full. I’ve enjoyed playing with the Paints with Toddler Boy because we’ve been able to mix colors and learn “yellow and blue makes green.” In addition to painting himself, Toddler Boy painted all over the tub and it washed away very easily with absolutely no residue or hint of color. The one negative we experience with the Finger Paints is that Toddler Boy has a hard time squeezing the paint out of the containers by himself. It takes a bit more strength than he can manage.

Finally, the Mr. Bubble 3-in-1 is body wash, shampoo and bubble bath! My husband usually fills the tub and prepares bath and the first time he used the Mr. Bubble 3-in-1 he immediately noticed all the bubbles! The Mr. Bubble seriously made more bubbles than any other bubble bath we’ve used. In addition to the bubble fun, I love that this is an all in one product for a child’s bath. We used the shampoo and body wash on both Toddler Boy and Baby Girl with ease. It has a nice, mild scent and was gentle on their skin.

Shop! Check The Village Company website to find a store near you or an online retailer. You can also print coupons at http://www.thevillagecompany.com/!

Win! The Village Company wants to make bath fun in your house, too. You can win FOUR great products: Sesame Street Finger Paints, Sesame Street Foam Soap, Mr. Bubble 3-in-1 and Mr. Bubble Bubble Bath!

Noah Baby Boutique Giveaway

by Kate on May 24th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized
Noah Baby Boutique is a great little baby shop on Etsy full of sweet and sassy burp cloths, blankets and onesies. Noah’s mom and the creative woman behind the boutique, Lesley, is an Air Force wife.

TSM: When did you start making baby goods?
I started making my products really during my husbands first deployment in 2008. My son was a newborn and at night found myself bored and even a little lonely. I LOVED baby things and started making things for my son and it just blossomed from there.
TSM: It so helps to have a hobby or something to keep you busy at night when the husband is out of town and the kids are sleeping. For me, it’s the blog.

TSM: When did you start selling?
I opened my Etsy shop in Sept 2008 but found during that time that I hadn’t found my niche or wasn’t in the zone. From Nov 2008 to March 2009 I really didn’t have any products available. It wasn’t until after relaunching in March, that I have found I’ve had some better interest and the creative juices are now flowing.

TSM: What is the inspiration behind your work?
It’s a complicated answer, as I said before, I LOVE baby things. At one time in my life I managed the children’s department at Nordstrom, and found myself falling in love with all the boutique baby items. I also have a deep love for vintage and keepsake items and, of course, a love for my son. All three together have formed my shop and my ideas.

TSM: What is your favorite item to make/and or sell?
I Love it all. I don’t make anything that I isn’t my favorite at the time I make it. I have to say right now, the tattoo baby mini blanket though is pretty fab. I have a feeling this may be the direction I will be heading to more.

TSM: What is the Best part of owning your own business?
It’s really two fold: the ability to make my own hours (working 50-60 hours a week with no weekends or holidays off for years kind of made me jaded and once my son was born the shift in priorities was instantaneous) and all the creative license is a huge benefit. I am able to use some of that creative juice that I couldn’t use in the corporate world.

TSM: How long have you/your husband been in the military?
Well I feel like I’ve been in it my whole life. I grew up with my father as a Lt. Col in the Army reserves and my uncle as a Brigadier General in the Army. I often think it was growing up with them that made me have this idea of what my perfect man is. My dad always wanted me to join the service, but I loved fashion and as I told the recruiter who he had call me throughout high school, “I don’t think you have a job for me.”

My husband has been in the Air Force for almost 8 years now and we’ve been married now for almost 3 and it has been amazing.

TSM: What is your favorite thing about being a “military mom”?
I’ve really had to think about this one. Really the excitement at the experience my child(ren) will have…meeting other military moms…having that common connection…the larger family…how proud I am when my husband takes my son with him…and shows him his plane…even though my son has NO idea what it is yet….I guess the morals, values and ethics that come along with being a part of the military…even in my role…

TSM: What is the biggest adjustment to military life?
Having to change my idea of the perfect marriage. My husband flies…a lot…and is deployed 2 times a year for 77 days each time so adapting to that.
Lesley’s husband just deployed last Wednesday. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts.

Connect! Lesley has two blogs. Keep up with her at http://projectmommyhood.blogspot.com/and check out her latest creations at http://noahbabyboutique.blogspot.com/.

Shop! Check out all the great baby products at Noah’s Baby Boutique.

Shop for a cause! Lesley is donating all the proceeds from the sale of this set of 3 burp cloths to Snowball Express.

Win! Three piece Burp Cloth Set and Matching Sailboat Onesie.
** Big thanks to Cindy over at The Grass is Always Greener for donating the onesie! Cindy is a proud Army Mom who’s son is currently in Basic Training. **

Posh Party Box: Military Discount

by Kate on May 22nd, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Shopping

About Posh Party Box:
Being in the business of helping make families smile, the owners of Award Winning Posh Party Box can only imagine how hard it is being an absent parent and not being able to be a part of their child’s, wife’s, husband’s, or family’s special day. Posh Party Box, the only upscale online themed party site, wants to help Moms and Dads of the Military be a part of that special day, by offering a 20% Military Discount on all parties and gifts.

Posh Party Box offers packages complete with everything you need to throw a great party. I always have great visions of being organized and creative and throwing an awesome party, but sadly the reality is usually quite different. (Case in point? Toddler Boy’s second birthday when we were stuck in traffic, late to pick up cold pizza and had the ugliest store-bought cake you’ve ever seen. Sigh…) I love the idea of having all the details that really make a party stand out are taken care of with a Posh Party Box.

Posh Party Boxes are available for everything from baby showers to seasonal parties to adult and kid birthday parties. I LOVE “Le Petite Chef” – the Cookie Baking Party Box. Ready for a party of five, this set has everything you need to make cookies and even has an apron and set of baking tools for each child to take home. Party favors? Check.

Toddler Boy would have a much better and more organized party this year if I go with the adorable “Safari Birthday” Box: Invitations, plates, utensils, tablecloth, napkins, balloons, horns, hats and even thank you notes for a party of 8 kiddos.

For an adult party, check out the Pineapples in Paradise Luau and the Stars and Stripes Patriotic party is perfect for Memorial Day or the Fourth of July.

Shop! Check out all the party boxes at www.poshpartybox.com. Posh Party Box offers a generous 20% military discount with the code PPBMILITARY. And, all you non-military readers are in luck, too. Through May 30, use the code PPBSPRING for 15% off your purcahse.
