gr8x Baby Traveller Deluxe Diaper Bag Review

The Baby Traveller Deluxe diaper bag by gr8x, pronounced “great ex”, is unlike any diaper bag I’ve ever used. It is literally a diaper bag wrapped around a comfy changing pad. And, it is awesome. In fact, the gr8x Baby Traveller was selected as one of the winners of the prestigious iParenting Media Award.

About gr8x, from the website:
gr8x products are born in Australia, created for the world to enjoy. gr8x bags incorporate the trends of the season, yet originality function and quality remain the key criteria for gr8x products. The line features functional, fashionable diaper bag designs, swaddle wraps, foot muffs and other high quality items for parents of small children.
I was generously given a gr8x Baby Traveller Deluxe Diaper Bag in the Black Floral pattern. The bag itself is a boxy style that is extremely gender neutral. If you’re looking for a diaper bag for both mom and dad to use, this is a great option. Seriously, any dude would be happy to carry the Baby Traveller. The bag is available in many bright and gender neutral colors: Red, Teal Blue, Plum, Mocha Brown, Strawberry Pink, Leaf Green, Burnt Orange, Black/Floral and Camo. (If I hadn’t told my husband the bag was called “Black Floral” I don’t think he would have noticed the tone on tone pattern was flowers and would have proudly carried this bag.)

The straps on the bag are adjustable and I clipped them so I can wear the bag on my back like a backpack. It’s the first backpack diaper bag I’ve used and I love it! The straps are padded and the bag is super light so it was very comfortable to wear even with my daughter strapped to my front. If you don’t like the backpack style, it also has briefcase-like handle, single shoulder strap and stroller straps.

The bag opens and closes using small clips and literally unfolds around the very generously sized changing pad. There is a zippered pouch on the top where you can put a flat wallet or other small things need to get to quickly. You can see more about opening the bag in this video.

Given that the name of the Diaper Bag includes the word Traveller, I thought I would really put it to the test and the first time I used it was to pack it up for a weekend trip with my five month old daughter. I had to maneuver the airport, alone, with a baby and all her necessities. No easy feat for any Diaper Bag. As you can see from the photo, I managed to pack everything I needed.

The Bag has a lot of divided storage space: nine pockets and two zippered pouches! It also comes with an insulated bottle holder (I used this to hold my first aid kit – more on that later this week) and a small pacifier holder you an attach anywhere you like. I actually put my cell phone in it and attached it to the strap for easy access. As you can see from the photo, the changing pad is very large. It is can be removed easily so you can throw it in the wash.

To Buy… The gr8x Baby Traveller Deluxe Diaper Bag is super functional with a sleek style. It is comfortable and easy to use. Father’s Day is quickly approaching so you if you know a new or expectant father, this is a great Diaper Bag option. It really is great for travel and I can imagine using it quite a bit when visiting places that don’t have baby changing stations (the park, camping, etc.)

…Or Not to Buy. The only drawback I found when using the bag is that at times it was a bit hard to get to the things I needed. Unlike a typical diaper bag where you open the top and look in, this one requires a bit more unbuckling and maneuvering. I think as I use it more I’ll get used to it. And, I think the benefits heavily outweigh this one negative.

Shop! The Baby Traveller Deluxe Diaper Bag is $79.95 (Camo is 119.95). While you’re looking at the Baby Traveller, check out other gr8x products, like the Boutique collection diaper bags, nursing pillows and swaddling wraps. For more information visit: http://www.gr8x.net/.
