The Sesame Street program “Coming Home: Military Families Cope with Change” is airing tonight at 8 PM on PBS. The primetime special features John Mayer, Queen Latifah and, of course, Elmo and friends. It addresses the emotional and physical changes that many families encounter when a parent returns from a deployment.
This show is part of an initiative by the Sesame Workshop called “Talk, Listen, Connect” that provides support and resources for military families going through a deployment. Toddler Boy and I were able to attend a special Sesame Street Live production on base last fall through the Talk, Listen, Connect and it was really special and valuable. (So special, in fact, that I cried during the opening number.)
