Trendy Sisters Giveaway (Closed)

by Kate on April 16th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

I raved about Trendy Sisters before and after I got my hands on the cutest Easter outfits ever for Toddler Boy and Baby Girl. Now, one of you is going to experience the sheer joy of dressing a little girl in Trendy Sisters because you can win an Aline dress!

The Aline Dresses are sweet and simple but feature awesome and adorable fabrics. Baby Girl rocked her Aline dress on Easter and it looked super cute with some leggings underneath when it was a little chilly (and then she had a blow out so she showed a little chubby leg in the afternoon).

I am having a hard time figuring out what Trendy Sisters outfits and dresses to feature in this post because they are all. so. cute. I seriously can’t pick favorites. But, let me try.

I LOVE this Apron Peasant Dress. The mix and match of the fabrics makes the simple shape so funky.
I know there are a lot of birthday outfits out there, but as far as I’m concerned none are cuter than this Birthday Shirt and Skirt set. The shirt. With the number and the cupcake and the candles. I mean, really, could you die from the sweetness?
I’m also loving this pants set. How great is the little ruffle around the pant leg?
Shop! Check out the beautiful clothes at the Trendy Sisters Etsy shop.

Win! One little lady is going to be very stylin’ in her very own Aline Dress. (Like the pink and green gem pictured to the left.) You pick the print and size (0-6 month to size 5).

Snaptotes: Mother’s Day Gift for Every Mama

by Kate on April 15th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Over the past week or two I’ve offered some great gift ideas for Mother’s Day, and if you’re looking for something practical AND personal AND straight up cool, look no further than Snaptotes.

The process to make your own bag on Snaptotes is simple. First, select a bag. Although technically this is easy, it is very hard to pick just one because there are some really great options. I really like the Messenger Bag, leather Satchel and Grand Bucket Bag. In addition to the wide variety of bags in leather and microfiber, Snaptotes also offers wallets, pillows and makeup bags. Next, add your photo. Upload a photo (or two) and personalize your bag. The online tools are easy to use so you can make your bag look just how you like. You can zoom, “nudge” your photo to center the image, and edit to black and white or sepia tones. Then, on some designs, you may even have the option to pick the color of the bag lining.

After some serious internal debate about which lucky mom in my life would most appreciate a Snaptotes bag, I decided to personalize a bag for my mother in law. (Happy early Mother’s Day, MJ!) She’s a quilter, goes to the gym, and travels a lot so I wanted a fairly large but versatile bag. I picked the Beach Bag because it has a large interior and several interior pockets for organizing. Luckily, this bag has the option for two photos – one on each side – so I personalized it with a photo of one kid on each side. And, the timing was perfect because I used pictures taken on Easter when they were all dressed up and looking super cute.

Here’s a sneak peek of my Snaptotes bag. In addition to seeing my adorable kiddos, you can see that I used the online tools to shrink my photos a bit to create the black “frame” on the sides of the pictures.I didn’t actually promise this to my mother in law, did I? Because I fear when it arrives I might just keep it for myself.

Shop! If you want to personalize a fabulous bag for a mama in your life (or for yourself!) head over to Snaptotes.com and use the code TSM10 for a 10% discount! Orders must be placed by April 30 in order to arrive in time for Mother’s Day.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Little Ugly

by Kate on April 14th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Can I just tell you how much I love Uglydoll? I think the Uglydoll characters are fun and so darn ugly that they are cute. The original Uglydoll costs around $20 so you may be wondering why I’m talking about Uglydoll in the $10 Tuesday post. Because the Little Ugly is, you guessed it, ten bucks.

Little Uglys are 7 inches tall and come in a variety of colors and ugly designs. A Little Uglydoll is a silly just because gift or a small birthday present for your kiddo’s friend. And, frankly, I can only handle so many giant stuffed things so I like think the Little size is much more manageable.
Happy Tuesday!

Plain Jane & Co. Giveaway (Closed)

by Kate on April 14th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Plain Jane & Co. is anything but plain. In fact, it’s an adorable Etsy shop with everything from applique tees to denim waisted tutus to baby hanging mats to “baby bundles” gift sets.

About the shop:

Plain Jane & Co. was created out of a love of for unique color schemes and beautiful patterns. Inspired by simplistic styles with an emphasis on whimsical and creative details. All designs are created with the finest fabrics and sewn small scale by [Jane] in the US.

I love the the chenille trio use cloths. These sweet little multi-taskers can be used as burp cloth, wipe and wash cloth. The front is beautiful fabric and the back side is comfy chenille. Each cloth measures approximately 11 inches square. Use one of these pretty things to get your kid clean and then toss it in the wash. As Jane suggests, it’s a great small step to take towards going “green.” You can even get a set personalized with an initial.
Some of my favorite listings in the Plain Jane shop are the baby bundles. Perfect for gift-giving, these packs come with a few must-have baby items. The Ava Rose bundle has a diaper clutch and two chenille wipes.

Shop! Check out the adorable items at Plain Jane & Co. on Etsy. Trust me, there is a lot of sweetness to admire, like the personalized towel for only $15.00.

Win! Plain Jane & Co. is generously giving a reader the personalized towel of your choice. You pick the color and the initial and enjoy the cuteness.

How to Enter: Check out Plain Jane & Co. and come back and post your favorite item in the shop.

Sunday Spotlight on Trendy Sisters

by Kate on April 12th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized
If today is going as planned (ha!) my little ones are running around looking totally adorable and acting sweet in their coordinating Easter outfits from Trendy Sisters. I was so excited when I ordered them and I was NOT disappointed when they arrived. The dress is gorgeous, the tie is darling and both look professionally finished. Here’s hoping a can snap a decent photo of my munchkins in their Easter finery.

Don’t be fooled by the quality and variety of clothing offered by Trendy Sisters, it’s really a one woman show. Milissa, the busy mother of two behind the beautiful clothing line, answered a few questions so we can get to know her better.

TSM: How long have you been making your adorable clothes for children and how long have you been selling them?
I began in August of 2006 when my oldest daughter was 2 1/2 years old. I saw a dress on ebay that i just loved….but it was $75. I thought “maybe i could make it.” I started selling in November of 2006 when my youngest was 10 months old.

TSM: That’s very quick turnaround from starting to sew to selling!
That’s kinda funny when you see [the dates together] like that! I was a nurse and I really wanted to stay home. We downsized houses and decided I would stop working if we could afford it. At the same time God revealed this talent I didn’t know I had.

TSM: What is your favorite item you make or sell?

Hmmmm… That’s a hard one. My favorite fabric is Amy Butler’s olive acanthus. My favorite item is probably the double ruffle pant. My girls’ favorite is the wave twirly skirt!

TSM: Do you give Trendy Sisters clothing as gifts to friends and family?
Absolutely! Unless they’ve never shown interest. I’m not foolish enough to think everyone loves our stuff. :)

TSM: Well, I think someone it be foolish not to love your stuff! How do you find the time to make your line?
It took a while to realize but sewing is my gift so it comes very naturally to me. That also means I’m pretty fast and use my time wisely. Oddly, I’m a huge procrastinator too! I have an amazing husband that helps with a lot of behind the scenes work. I mostly sew in the evenings when my girls are sleeping and my husband also gives me one or 2 work evenings during the week if I need them.

TSM: Do you have any plans for additional products or business expansion?
I always like making new pieces but there are absolutely no plans for expansion. Our business is small and maintable…just the way we like it! God is first, then our family, then the business.

TSM: What’s the best part of owning your own business?
That I get to stay at home with my girls and I can stop at any time. If someone is sick during the night the sewing machine gets shut off and I get to hold my baby. I don’t have to call into work or find someone to cover for me. I don’t have to wait till the next nurse shows up. I’m a mom and that comes before any amount of money.

Shop! Trendy Sisters offers a wide variety of skirts, dresses, outfits and, my favorite, sibling sets. You can find the complete line on the web and on Etsy.

Happy Easter!

PaperRamma Calling Cards for the Social Butterfly Mama

by Kate on April 10th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Don’t you love meeting new mom friends with kids the same age as yours? It’s like hitting the jackpot to find a mom you enjoy talking with AND your kids get along and play well together. So, isn’t it embarassing when at the end of your first meeting at the park or at a play group or library story time you have to dig through your purse to find an old receipt to write your phone number down? Been there, done that.

Have you heard of mommy calling cards? They’re like mom business cards. Just think of how organized and on top of things you will seem when you can easily hand over a cute little card with your phone number. PaperRamma has the market cornered on cute, convenient contact and mom calling cards. In addition to a variety of fun designs to pick from, PaperRamma calling cards come in a tin container you can attach to your diaper bag. For only $14.95 you get 48 round cards in a convenient container with a clip attached by a ribbon.

Amanda from PaperRamma was kind enough to work with me to personalize a set of calling cards. I picked the Hip Retro Dotted cards in green and included my kids’ names, cell phone number, email address and, of course, my blog address. I just love them! I have to admit, I am a bit on the shy side, so it’s a lot easier to hand over this adorable card than to ask for someone’s number. For me, the best part of the cards is avoiding an awkward moment and feeling confident that I look pretty cool with my own contact card.

I think what sets the PaperRamma calling cards apart from others I’ve seen is the unique shape – 2 inch circle with a scalloped edge – and the fact that they come in a great container. There are several card colors to pick from and the pattern of the paper is on the front and back, which I like. In addition to selecting your paper color preference, you can pick the font, if you want an image, the font color, ribbon and, of course, the information included on the card.

Shop! PaperRamma has several design templates to personalize starting at only $14.95, so go check them out. What a fun Mother’s Day present for a friend or sister or yourself!
