In Search Of: New Diaper Bag

by Kate on April 3rd, 2009 | 16 Comments » | In Uncategorized

I’m feeling like I want a new diaper bag. I certainly don’t need one, but at the moment I’m just not loving the one(s) I have.

After some looking around, I’ve come up with a few bags I’m considering. (Obviously there are others out there but I just can’t justify spending much money on a new bag considering I have hundreds of dollars worth of diaper bag sitting right in front of me.) I need some help deciding and clearly the Husband is no help because, for some reason, he thinks I don’t need a new one. Hmph.

Option 1: Large Pleated Bag from Bags by Collette. I love the fun fabric, the slouchy style and that it’s a unique one of a kind bag no one else will have. I don’t like that I’ll have to wait a while to get it. (I AM all about instant gratification.)

Option 2: Vera Bradley Morgan Bag. I have to say I’m not sure I’m a Vera Bradley mama. I mean, this bag seems like a great option (nice shape, pockets, etc) but I don’t know if it’s me. Friends have Vera Bradley bags and love them so I think it’s probably well made and will last a while.

Option 3: JP Lizzy Cate Diaper Bag Tote. I’m drawn to this bag because it doesn’t look like a diaper bag. But, I’ve never heard of this brand and I have no idea what it looks like in person. I’m afraid that because of the fake croc it could look super cheap and cheesy.

So, what do you think? What diaper bag do you have that you love? Help me out here, ladies. I want to get my shop on.

I think the first one is cute but I don’t like big open bags because everything gets thrown in there and then when you need to find something, you can’t. I like the idea of the last one because I’ve always just used a purse as a diaper bag.

Personally, I’m a Vera mama. LOVE the fact that when the “spill-proof” sippy cup leaks…I just throw the bag in the wash. Very cute beach colors out now, too.

I love the first one. Vera makes great bags but they will fade and fray over time if you wash them. And everyone has one.

@ Alejandra Thanks for the Timi and Leslie tip. They have some really cute bags!

@ Megan Good point about the big open space. That’s kind of the issue I’m having with the bag I’m using now. It’s a messenger style and has NO interior pockets.

@ Van Brunt I agree that washable fabric is key. What Vera bag style do you have? It’s hard to tell what would be best as a diaper bag (other than the one called a diaper bag, but it looks too big).

Love the first one! I love the fabric and the fact that it’s handmade but I understand about not wanting to wait. I will say that I love Vera Bradley and am currently carrying one as my diaper bag. I’ve had the same one for 3 yrs and it looks brande new…seriously! If you take care of it it will last a long time! Good luck choosing!
