Sarah & Abraham Silhouette

by Kate on February 13th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

The final gift suggestion of the week for the kid who has everything: silhouette print from Sarah & Abraham. Perhaps this had made it to the suggestion list because I have been drooling over them and have decided that I really need to get one for Baby Girl. So basically I pretty much assume all mamas would like it as much as I would. And, really, when it comes to the wee little ones the parents get more out of the gifts anyway. For the older kiddos it’s fun to see their name on such a beautiful piece of art. Anyway, put this $20 print in a frame and you have an adorable gift for any occasion.

The prints are available in thirteen different colors with lots of silhouettes to pick from. The images are just so adorable for both boys and girls. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Cute, cute sibling prints are also available. Love them.
Sarah & Abraham also has awesome (and practical) stickers, notepads and gift sets. Happy shopping and have a great weekend.

Katherine’s Kloset Chalk Mat and Crayon Roll & Giveaway

by Kate on February 12th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Gift for the kid who has everything suggestion four: A chalk mat and crayon roll up combination pack from Katherine’s Kloset for $30.

The chalk mat is a genius little thing guaranteed to be a hit with parents as well as kids. One side is a placemat made of beautiful – waterproof! – designer fabric. The other side is a chalkboard with a little notch to hold a couple pieces of chalk. Imagine the sanity saved, both parent and tot, at restaurants, doctor’s offices, in the car, and on and on and on.
The crayon roll is made of two coordinating designer fabrics and can hold 16 regular size crayons. Lisa, the creator of these little gems, came up with the design after being annoyed by continually bent, torn and crumbled crayon boxes. The crayon roll is much nicer to look at, rolls up easily and kids can easily get crayons in and out on their own.

And now for the best news… Katherine’s Kloset is offering a mini Chalk Mat in Lolli Dot fabric to a lucky blog reader! The chalk mat measures 9 by 13 inches and will be custom made with red or blue trim.

The Land of Nod Crafts, Toys & Games

by Kate on February 11th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Okay, I admit it right up front. Today’s suggestion for the kid who has everything is not some fun, handmade totally obscure gift. No, it’s a big ol’ mainstream company that has brick and mortar stores (although, I’ve never been to one). But, really, I just LOVE The Land of Nod as a source for gifts. It has been my go-to place when shopping for my nieces for years (and they have their fair share of toys). There are lots of options that are very affordable and everything in this post is less than $30.

The Land of Nod has artsy craftsy gifts like the Rainy Day Art Kit, which is good for kids like mine who have artistically challenged parents. The Kit includes instructions to make felt friends, needlepoint and tissue paper art.

Another cute craft gift is the Loves Me, Loves Me Not Flower Making Kit.

There are plenty of puzzle and brain-teaser games and toys, too. I really love these Magnetic Airplanes for toddler boys like mine. Each flying object can be taken apart and put back together over and over (and over) again. And how fun and sweet is this Just Your Cup of Tea Party game?

I apologize if you already know and love The Land of Nod. Think of it as this week’s safe and realiable old friend who will always be there when you need to find an affordable, fun gift for the kid who has everything.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a gift suggestion from a small, mom-owned company with a giveaway!

Superfly Kidz Superhero Cape & Giveaway

by Kate on February 10th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Gift suggestion number two for the kid who has everything: Custom Superhero Cape from Superfly Kidz. How freaking cute is this? I know, I know… Too cute for words, but I’m going to try. The cape is personalized with choice of color, design shape and letter to suit the tastes of any little superhero. I think this is the perfect gift to get a kid’s imagination flowing.

Superfly Kidz capes are made by hand from start to finish. The capes are made of premium satin and have velcro closures so they are easy for your little ones to get on and off. The designs are made of the same quality satin as the capes and are finished with an embroidered edge. The capes are approximately 22 inches long from the nape of the neck and generally fit children ages two to seven.

I like that in addition to the traditional Superman designs, there are “girly” shapes like flowers and crowns because we all know girls can be superheros, too! Want to round out the gift with an accessory? Superfly Kidz sells matching Superhero masks! So fun.

Win it! Superfly Kidz is offering a custom cape for the little superhero in your life.

How To Enter: Go check out Superfly Kids. Come back and post a comment about your favorite cape color and design.

Stephen Joseph Backpack & Discount Code

by Kate on February 9th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Reviews, Shopping
This week’s first suggestion for the kid who has everything is the quilted backpack from Stephen Joseph.

Toddler Boy has one and it is the perfect size for young toddlers. The backpack measures 11 inches tall by 13 inches wide and is 4 inches deep with a drawstring and snap closure. What does that mean in real world terms? Well, Toddler Boy fills his with books and crayons for church or dinner out, it holds his lunch bag and a couple diapers for “school” but it’s still small enough for him to carry it on his back like a big boy. There are tons of designs to chose from so you’re bound to find something to please even the most finicky kid.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I LOVE all things personalized so the fact that the quilted backpacks can have a name embroidered makes me love them all the more.
My favorite place to buy Stephen Joseph products is The Crazy Dazy. They have the biggest selection I’ve found on the web and great customer service. They also have several cute fonts to chose from when you’re personalizing your backpack.

There are plenty of adorable Stephen Joseph gifts at the Crazy Dazy for older kids, too. A matching set of Book Ends and “This Book Belongs To…” stickers would be an adorable gift for kids of all ages. Also check out the Go-Go Backpack and the Art Portfolio.
Now, onto the best part of shopping at The Crazy Dazy. They are offering The Shopping Mama readers a 10% discount on any purchase! Awesome! Just use the coupon code SHOPPINGMAMA when checking out.

Gifts for the Kid Who has Everything

by Kate on February 7th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

You all know that kid. The kid with a play room better stocked than the toy section of Target. The kid whose bedroom looks like it is straight out of Pottery Barn Kids. The kid who looks ready to toddle down a baby red carpet at any given moment. So, what in the world do you get that kid when you need a gift?

Every weekday next week The Shopping Mama will feature gifts that are sure to be a hit with that kid. And, lucky readers, there will also be giveaways and an exclusive discount code for you to enjoy.

In Search Of: Belt for Toddler Boy

by Kate on February 6th, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Sweet little Toddler Boy is just that: little. So his pants never manage to fit properly in both length and around the waist. Lately, it’s been particularly bad and he’s been showing off his diaper by sporting some really saggy drawers. Not a good look. We’ve tried rolling down the waist to make the waistband tighter, but he just looks a fool because then his socks are highly visible between his pants and shoes. Now, I know they make adjustable waist pants, but that only solves the problem with one pair of pants. I’m looking for a more versatile solution so I have decided that Toddler Boy must have a belt. The search is on…

I checked out Crew Cuts first. If it’s good enough for Sasha and Malia, it’s good enough for Toddler Boy, right? I found this little gem: the plaque belt. It is $25 which is more than I usually spend on his pants, but he’ll be able to wear it for a while and it will match lots of his clothes.
Then there is the belt by Cuddlebee to consider. It’s striped and more casual than the Crewcuts option, but only $12. I’m considering the brown/white stripe one.

For a totally different option, there’s the C.Belly belt. It’s made of cotton and ribbon and without a buckle at the front so you don’t have to mess with it when you take pants off to change a diaper or potty train. (Ahhh… potty training. Life without diapers can’t come soon enough and yet we are years away. Because of Baby Girl, people. Toddler Boy’d better be trained within a year or I’m toast.) There are many different boy options, and I’m leaning towards the Earth Stripe for $13 or the Classic Stripe pack for $20.

I think I know which one I’m going to buy, but I’d love some opinions so let me hear it. What belt do you think I should buy?
