CPSIA = Great Deal on Adorable Skirts

by Kate on January 23rd, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized

Because the CPSIA is going into effect soon, many small businesses have placed their kiddie goods on super sale. I found the adorable Kissing Kumquats Emily Skirt on sale for a mere $12 on Etsy.

Now I fancy myself an amateur seamstress and thought of trying to make one myself, but the low price barely covers the cost of the adorable Amy Butler fabric used to make these twirly skirts. Thank god I made the wise decision to buy the skirts – they are adorable and so, so well made. The finish is beautiful.

(Yes, I bought the Baby Girl skirts for next summer. ::Hangs head in shame.:: But, I was happy to discover upon their delivery that because of the quality and elastic waist she will be able to wear them for a long, long time and sooner than I expected.)

Check out Kissing Kumquats for lots of fun skirts in awesome fabrics on sale for a great price. Here are two of my favorites that you’d better go buy before I decide I need them.

About The Shopping Mama

by Kate on January 22nd, 2009  |  5 Comments  |  Uncategorized
Hi. I’m Kate. And I’m an online shopping addict. I absolutely love to find (and buy) things for my two children. Toddler Boy was born in December 2006 and Baby Girl joined us in November of 2008. Even before they were born, I quickly discovered the internet is a great resource for information, products and reviews of all things baby and child.

My life was very different before I married and had kids as was my use of the Internet. I went to college in Massachusetts in a time when it seems the Internet didn’t really exist, and I used the computer mainly to keep in touch over email. I lived in New York City for a couple of years and I used the web to buy concert tickets and place ice cream deliveries. And then I spent three years of my life online to research and read court opinions during law school. (I’m sure I don’t have to tell you shopping for my kids is way more fun.)

After graduating from law school and taking the bar in a state where I will probably never live again, I moved to Germany with my husband who is a pilot in the Air Force. This, I believe, is when the shopping addiction began. It’s not easy being pregnant with your first child in a land where you barely speak the language and can’t just run out to Babies R Us to check out the strollers and car seats and bedding.

Don’t get me wrong, now that we’re back in the States I love to shop at brick and mortar stores just as much as the next person, but sometimes it’s just not gonna happen with two little kids. In January 2009, I started putting my addiction to good use by sharing my favorite online shops and goodies on The Shopping Mama blog.

The Shopping Mama is THE source for all the unique and fabulous things you want and need for little ones but don’t have time to find yourself.

A product review on The Shopping Mama is a great way to spread the word about your product or service. Don’t take my word for it! Take a look at what previous sponsors have to say:

Leslie, PR for Smart Trikes: I can honestly say that was the best review I have seen yet! Between the pictures and info, we are all very impressed here and I’m sure the Smart Trike execs will be too.

Kadie, FlyeBaby: The review is great, very thorough and honest!  Couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Wendy, Saige Nicole’s: I just wanted to send you a quick message at how incredibly impressed I am with your writing and the way you presented Saige Nicole’s.  I am impressed with your speed and the quality of your writing and your professionalism.

Barbara, Baby Dipper: That is a fabulous review! And it is, as usual for The Shopping Mama, a very well-written review. Thank you so much for the extra effort you put into making your reviews well thought out and informative. Thank you!!!

Sharina, Regal Lager: I am truly blown away by the details including description and pictures for this review. And it seems that you already have a number of comments on your blog. I can honestly say that this is one of the best reviews ( in regards to taking the time to get to know the product and very detailed) the Baby Traveller Deluxe has ever had-both online and in print. Thanks so much! This is great! I look forward to working with you again!

Rachel, Slimpressions: Your review has done wonders bringing traffic to our site. Thanks so much!

Jennifer, The Simple Stencil: Thank you so much for writing such a great review! This is the best one yet and it looks like you got a good response from it so far! I look forward to hearing who the winner is and please let me know if you every want to host another.

Emily, Belly Fish: Wow, thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed review about Belly Fish. Julie [co-owner] and I have both read it and are thrilled with your honesty.

Jim, Happy Squash Toys: Thank you so much! Your review is just wonderful and I can tell your son really likes the toys.

Pamela, My Tot Clock: I LOVE IT! You did a FANTASTIC job on the review!! Thank you so much, Kate! If there is anything else I can do for you and your adorable little boy, please let me know.

Amanda, PaperRamma: Thank you soooo much for your wonderful review! You have a way with words- and you explained everything so clearly– even better than I could have written about my own cards! :) You are right about how it helps with that awkward moment- and I never even thought of it that way- what a great selling point! Thank you again for everything.
